BYD seal first service on 5500km

Money_Independent_16 | 2026-01-19 09:55 | 97 views

Hey everyone. Got my first service done at a dealership. Was 5500km, and after long trip I decided to go to the first maintenance according to the maintenance schedule in the book. Was $55 at the dealer. They checked brakes, fluids, whispers and something else. Also there was very annoying rattling sound from the back, so they fixed that too.

Wow that's quick, what type of climate do you drive in? Here in Belgium (and Europe as well I think) the first service is at 24 months or 30.000km according to my dealer and the manual. What kind of rattle did you have and what was the fix?

That's very, very early for an ev. I'm on 12,000 km and there is no sign of notification.

DLS85 2026-01-19 10:12

Yes, we have 30k / 2 years in CH.

Domesk 2026-01-19 10:28

Same for Croatia

Hopeful_Lettuce2906 2026-01-19 10:38

Got 10500 on mine. No Service needed yet

stsfyrcm 2026-01-19 10:56

What have you done to the alloys?! :(

Speeder172 2026-01-19 11:22

What county??  In Germany it's 2 years or 30000 km.

Sef0508 2026-01-19 11:33

Portugal: 12 Month or 30.000km. First service costs last month were 565€ incl. Gear Oil change🤪. @BYD: Why are there so many differences between countries?

Money_Independent_16 2026-01-19 12:07

In Japan it’s 5k, should be free for new cars, but I bought used with only 300km. After that every 12 month or 20k km.

Money_Independent_16 2026-01-19 12:09

I would say semi tropical, south-central Japan. It’s like an initial maintenance check after 5k or 6 months, after that every 12 month or 20k km. Rattling was near the rear light under the rear window. They said that the black cover(behind the rear seats) was lose

Money_Independent_16 2026-01-19 12:09

I set up notification according to the book, 12 month or 20k km

Money_Independent_16 2026-01-19 12:09

Japan. 12 month or 20k km

Money_Independent_16 2026-01-19 12:11

In Japan seal is different too, only 105kWh of charging for example. And sealion 7 is not on 800v architecture

Money_Independent_16 2026-01-19 12:11

They are safely stored in my house. These are “use and abuse” winter set

cyborghostt 2026-01-19 12:43

In the UAE it’s 12 months or 20,000 km, free of charge

Money_Independent_16 2026-01-19 12:54

Same timeframes

TitanFlood 2026-01-19 13:09

I imagine it's tailored to humidity, road conditions and year round temp. For instance, a country on the Mediterranean coast is going to suffer hot weather, salt and depending on the temperature extremes, pot holes.

Money_Independent_16 2026-01-19 14:23

Yeah, I guess so. It aligned perfectly for me, because I just did 2400km trip and got annoyed with rattling in the back

Illustrious-Boat2773 2026-01-20 01:07

Just serviced my BYD sealion 7 here in Thailand for 5,000km, cost £20, US dollar 26, Thai baht 832. We also get a free car wash, free coffee and snacks, plus a small plate of fruit.

Money_Independent_16 2026-01-20 01:18

Nice! Maybe maintenance schedule is similar in Asia

Warlock3000 2026-01-20 01:20

In Kuwait, it’s every 10k km or 12 months.

Money_Independent_16 2026-01-20 01:20

Wow, even more offer then in Japan

Warlock3000 2026-01-20 01:23

I believe part of it they want to check the battery health specifically in 55c temperatures

arnulfostrk1 2026-01-20 01:56

Cool. I’ll take mine next month. Here in Mexico you take it once after 5,000km or three months, whichever comes first. Then, maintenance every 12 months. I’m at ~2,500km now, so the three months will come first. I also own a white Seal 🤘

onepluspixelS10S 2026-01-20 02:03

Same in India, first service in 3 months or 5000km

Money_Independent_16 2026-01-20 02:28

Nice. My wife really wanted the black one. I liked it too, but black paint is such a pain in the ass to take care of

Sharp-Bit9745 2026-01-20 13:37

I'm in the UK and mine came up telling me I needed to service it after 3 months / ~2000 miles. It's a salary sacrifice lease which includes servicing etc so thought I might as well book it in, but I haven't seen anyone else in the UK say that's the correct schedule.

Eggie87 2026-01-21 05:51

Same here in singapore.. First was 5km, 20km...now they just shifted to 10k, 20k n 30km.

Alarming-Skirt2116 2026-01-22 06:13

Need to agree with your comment. However, it does look good!

spardax111 2026-01-22 06:57

Here in Saudi Arabia, the maintenance interval is 20,000 Km

icaninvest 2026-01-22 07:57

1st service is at 2000km. Yours is 5000km ?

Money_Independent_16 2026-01-22 12:01

Yeah, 6 moth or 5k km. Then 12 month or 20k km

Money_Independent_16 2026-01-22 12:02

Almost the same. 5k km, but after that every 12 month or 20k

arnulfostrk1 2026-01-25 03:26

I agree. White dissimulates dirt better 😂
