BYD Seal U DMI Comfort Two Annoying things

Personally I would have to blame the American film and music industry for the American voice choice by BYD ! They may catch up on appropriate country accents in time. Could you imagine if they went mad and had regional accents for the destination entered I tend to stick with Waze so have the choice of English male/female voice guidance. Not a perfect answer to your point but a possible solution ?

I'm finding half the fun is in experimenting and finding out what phrases she responds sensibly to. Sometimes she seems uncannily astute in figuring out what I actually want her to do, after a long pause to think about it, despite my giving her cryptically phrased arcane language, other times she seems downright dumb No doubt she'll get better and better as development progresses

Today, first time ever, the voice was male and English I got in the car and asked it to open the sunroof, as always a female voice with a slight American accent replied in the positive and opened the sunroof. I got out the car at the end of an hour’s drive and asked for it to close the sunroof, which it did, again with the slight American accent confirming the action. I did some shopping, came out and got into the car, as it was still hot and sunny I asked it to open the sunroof to which a rather deep male English voice replied ‘opening sunroof ‘ No update had taken place, the version is permanently stuck on V1.2 and has been since delivery in April 2025 It scared the bejesus out of me, thought I had an uninvited guest sitting in the back seat.

Olly - I can confirm the same thing on mine with the satnav. Have to ask twice.. first time she can't do it, but she does fire up the satnav. Second time, she doesn't complain and works it just fine. Fishman - mine's also clinging on for dear life to v1.2.2, no English voice yet though..

Raging Gallops - I’m taking mine into the dealership on Tuesday 2nd to see if the tech guy can force a download of V1.3 or check to see if it has already been downloaded and just isn’t showing on the screen, his idea not mine. I was very lucky to get in, techy had a cancellation, otherwise it would have been end of July for an appointment. Could that perhaps give a hint of how many models are suffering from the lack of successful OTA downloads. I’ve noticed, along with the male English voice, I’ve gained a triangle with in it, on the dash display directly in front of the driver, that pops up each and every time I approach traffic lights! Never seen it before but it’s there now. Technology! Great when it works.
