Seal U HBA

Raging Gallops | 2025-06-02 22:24 | 26 views

I was approaching a large roundabout in dry weather at about 25-30mph or so, foot off the accelerator, no other cars anywhere in sight, slowing down ready to stop if necc, intending to take 1st exit which would only see me briefly enter and immediately leave the roundabout. Out of nowhere I got traffic to the right, no prob, went to lightly apply the anchors just to slow progress a little and let the roundabout traffic pass by in front. The Seal took over and slammed the brakes on really hard. After reading the manual came to the conclusion this was an example of HBA in action, passenger commented though, that could have made someone slam into the back of you. If it was HBA, does the system check the rear before slamming on? Autos & Vehicles

This is a known issue and will be resolved with the OTA Update V1.3.0 being released this month. Hopefully that helps!

Oh good! Thanks for the info. It's been the only negative I've come across since buying the car. A few years ago I had a Ford Mondeo suffered from a very similar 'eager brake assist' issue.. it can be a bit hairy!

Wow, I had exactly the same problem on a roundabout just a couple of weeks ago. Luckily no other cars behind me at the time. No problems since with that particular issue but unable to do an OTA download of the new V1.3 update, car just won’t allow it, been told to take it to a dealer for a techie guy to help. Dealer didn’t have a clue what I was talking about. The car has done just 400+ miles.

Tried to see what software level I've got but all I could find on the main screen was 13.1.33.2502140.1 I found a couple of references that suggest the xx.x.xx.2502xxx.x part equates to the level. '2503' seems to indicate V1.4.0. References exist to '2501' without any hint as to whether it relates to V1.3.0 or V1.4.0, but my '2502' string isn't mentioned anywhere at all on Google. So I'm a bit confused as to what software level I'm running in terms of the Vx.x.x format. I tried the 'update' function and a box came up 'checking software level' or something similar, but it seemed to complete without changing the 13.1.33.2502140.1 number. Feel like I'm maybe in the wrong place in the settings or something? Or does it only tell you the software level in terms of the Vx.x.x format when it decides to do the OTA? [edit] After a couple of days intermittently trying the 'update' function now and again, it eventually responded differently and explicitly told me my software level was V1.2.2 so I'll just have to keep on waiting for the V1.3.0 Just a thought.. I wonder if the automatic emergency braking setting could be automatically turned off every start, by using some kind of android task scheduler or even by sideloading a custom autostart app? I did start looking into it but the car won't easily let the average user install third party apps like 'automate' etc. There are folks over at xda forums and other sites who have had success using various methods, hidden usb sockets, secret passwords etc but it looks like anything in this vein that has previously succeeded, might well be knocked out at anytime by an ota update

Regards the update : I contacted BYD via the App and they assured me that my Seal UDMi should be on the latest update version of V1.3 but I was able to assure them that it wasn’t, even supplied them with a photo of current update version. The response was that I should take it to my BYD dealer and get the technician guy to sort it out. The service department offered me an oil and filter change on a car that has 400 miles on the clock and is a month old. If honest the service guy admitted he didn’t have a clue about tech issues, so that makes two of us. Autos & Vehicles

Why are you so impatient ? You should just wait and you will get the update when it gets rolled out. I don’t know why you would do a service after 400 miles. I have driven almost 5000 miles and the current software version is fine and no issues. Seal U owners in France, Germany and Austria recently received the OTA update V1.3.0. UK will probably follow soon.

Not impatient, as I said in a previous post, I have only just got used to this software version and still haven’t figured all of it out so the prospect of yet another version, to be honest, fills me with horror. They can take as long as they like with their updates as far as I’m concerned because most seem to relate to ‘screen appearance’ rather than technical details of the actual car’s operation.
