Seal HUD

Jagetsu007 | 2026-01-06 17:47 | 45 views

Why does the HUD of a brand-new Seal look like this? In my opinion, there shouldn’t be this kind of graininess and blurriness in the HUD. Is it possible that there’s still some kind of protective film left on the HUD?

Just to be clear, you know that the HUD is a “projection” onto the windshield generated by a display inside the dashboard, right? Is it possible that there’s some dirt or moisture on that display?

Have you tried cleaning the HUD in the dashboard or checking if there’s a film on it? If not, book it in to be sorted if it’s brand new. You’re right, it shouldn’t look like that.

Most probably dust on the projection screen of the hud

Looks like your windshield needs some cleaning from the outside. May also be a good idea to use a dry cloth and clean the projector on top of your dashboard. Should be fine afterwards.

happened same thing to me, the mirror that reflect the screen on the windshield shattered. Try to replace it on the warranty. I had to pay ~$1,5k as they refused to repair it under warranty and it come as a whole module, so you can't just replace the mirror itself. Btw i am still waiting for the part to arrive 30+ days waiting time

Also whack it onto snow mode in the HUD settings to get a cool blue colour to it. Makes it easier to see against a snowy background ☺️

Is the projector lens broken?

derekoco 2026-01-06 19:07

Did you check the HUD projector?

FixCommercial817 2026-01-06 19:25

Turn it blue there is a snow mode so it lights up blue

I haven't yet had the opportunity to take a picture, or to investigate further, but the EXACT same thing has very recently happened to the HUD on my 8 month old Seal Excellence. It is not a dirty windshield, nor is the HUD in need of cleaning. Much like you, I am hoping that it is a protective film that someone forgot to remove prior to delivery that has since deteriorated in the sun - interestingly, the service centre forgot to remove the film from both the centre screen and the instrument cluster, so that may well be likely. The HUD used to be crystal clear, until one day it simply wasn't. The effect is exactly the same as you have posted, almost like looking at the HUD through a screen door. I will try to have a proper look at it tomorrow, if I remember, and see if I can work out what the issue might be in my case. Hopefully it will be helpful to you too.

I had a similar issue on my new Seal. BYD changed the HUD unit on mine. I’d tried cleaning the glass on the HUD unit and the windshield but it was something fundamentally wrong with the HUD itself.

did you try cleaning the hud? did you even try looking at the hud?

toto-nator 2026-01-07 05:46

It could be dirt? Try cleaning it. Don't use any liquids. Just dry cleaning. Find an issue which is officially used for glasses or sunglasses cleaning. Or buy a can with pressure air. Forever der should be now protection film on that, at least not when it's delivered. If it my have one dan somebody maybe forgot taking it off the factory. Actually I don't believe that. Overall depending on the picture you posted it could be just your windshield which is dirty

WTF, why not uner warranty?

ExtremeCopy283 2026-01-07 10:25

Okay so, after driving the car for about an year, my HUD got grainy exactly like this. I think the reason is moisture that gets BEHIND the HUD film. I showed it to my service center and they will replace it under warranty

ExtremeCopy283 2026-01-07 10:26

And the crazy part is, moisture occurs when you turn of the car and lock it, the air conditioning system still work for a bit to cool off the battery. If you wanna try just turn off ur car, open the door, don’t exit the vehicle, close door and lock. You’ll see AC still working

Why u driving in between lanes

Expensive_Ad8154 2026-01-08 08:35

In settings you make the txt blue when your in snow. Higher visibility

mikegaribaldi 2026-01-09 17:32

Hey at least you can see it 😂 I’m tall and even on its highest setting I need to lower my head to see it fully on my windshield… so of course I have jt turned off cos it’s useless 🥲

Tralalalf 2026-02-04 18:17

The car was hit before so they said it was caused by this. Not mentioning that there was 1 year between events. Fuck byd
