Considering a sealion 7

Following. We have a BYD Dolphin. Looking at Sealion 7 also. Only gripe we have is the dolphin has twice had heating / cooling issues. In the summer wouldn’t cool that was fixed. Now in the winter it won’t (or take ages) to heat. Getting booked in. My friend just took delivery of a Seal Excellence. Just messaged me to say not charging on a.c and d.c Charging sporadic. I know all cars no matter the makes have some cars with issues. Electronics and stuff fails.

Ive done 10000 miles in mine (awd design) and its been very reliable. No issues, no recalls and rhe interior has held up very well. It went on a 2000 mile roadtrip in europe and as you say its very well equipped and i didnt get range anxiety. Plenty of room and power to lug a family and luggage round without a sweat. I appreciate that its on the premium end of BYD but you do get your moneys worth if you compare it to same size vehicles with similar specifications (EV or ICE).

No issues. Tech is good, drive is nice. Get about 240m in the cold. Touxh screen takes a wee bit to get used too. Just need to turn off the sensors before driving But over all very happy so far

Have the car for 3 months so far, 5000 km no issues so far. Rear visibility is poor but big side mirrors overcomes it, also can turn on rear camera while driving. Turn off front emergency breaking. To avoid any issues in roundabouts. Paint is little on the thin side so invest in ppf. Overall it’s a great car, fun to drive.

At 12,000 km and it's like new. Love it. My comms box (t box) has failed but service has it on order... No messing, no charges... Just washed and valeted the car for free when diagnostics took place. Adas is a little annoying at times but easy to turn off. Very comfortable... Best car I have owned.

Love mine. So far at 5,000km, problem free and in maximum comfort. No buyer's remorse.

Somethings not adding up, im 195cm, 95kg and got no problem finding a good driving position.

2 months, 5000 km. Been quite happy, a lot of positives (like people have mentioned) and only a couple annoying things. - Speed limit warning (easy to turn off and i guess its required by eu regulations on newer cars so same problem on all) - Child presence detector or something (can mistake stuff in the back seat as a child and alarm after parking, feels like a useless feature overall) - Driver monitoring system (can put tape over the camera to disable, but will have a warning on the dashboard). - Range: cold weather and semi balanced driving the energy usage gets near 24 kw/h per 100km. (Not too big of a problem if you can charge at home).

That's actually impossible due to manufacturing limitations, maybe you didn't pay attention to that? The problem with the car is that steering column isn't that horizontal and the seat cannot be lowered that much so generally a tall person sits in a very weird way, that was one of the reasons i haven't bought Sealion 7 - my feeling was like being a truck driver, also too soft suspension (and too big mass). Take a look again, Seal vs. Sealion 7, probably not the same guy (who looks more like 170cm) but i borrowed it from the same webiste, do you see the angle of Sealion 7's column? In f.e. Tesla Y the steering column is practically horizontal. I was going to suggest you sit in it first, but since you already have then ok. I sat in one at a car show recently and I couldn't get comfortable for some reason. I spent about 10mins fiddling with the seat. no issue with any of their other cars I have been in.

I think there is an issue here, I sat in one recently and couldn't get comfortable at all. I spent at least 10 minutes fiddling with the seat and it just wasnt right for me. Edit: and im only 5'7

Deleting the account because I waste too much time helping people who doesn't appreciate it, instead just go to sleep :D The problem is real, the steering column looks weird even on photos and my comments are also real. I haven't bought Sealion 7 by myself because sitting position was awful and driving experience was weird, Seal is other league. But when I drive f.e. on corners I put pedal to the metal and the rear dances so I need a stable car but I also understand that some people need a family car.

I’m 6ft 3 and I have the seat on the highest height, I have no complaints about my driving position. And the difference between the highest seating position and the lowest is massive. OP is probably used to scraping his arse on the floor of a 3 series or something.

I don’t think it’s the most comfortable car I sat in but it wasn’t horrible, better than my bmw 6 series.

For a tall person what matters is the lowest position height, not the difference - difference is meaningless. And the lowest position is maybe low for Chinese people. And there's also this weird steering column angle at Sealion 7.

I don’t agree. I guess it is all about preference. In my SL7 my lowest position puts my eyeline in line with the edge of the dashboard. And my preferred position is maximum height. So at 6ft 3, even if I preferred a lower position I don’t think any lower would be safe.

But it's not only about the seat position which I explain all the time, it's a combination of 2 things ... bad angle of steering column + seat height. Actually the bad angle is the biggest fail. I know it's shitty for an owner to read it but that's the truth, can't you see it on photos how weird the steering column's angle looks like? I've had 15 car before in my life and when I buy a car I pay a lot of attention to millions of details due to experience. Can somebody make a photo how you sit in the car? - then you'll notice how weird it looks from the side, it's like you gonna have the wheel on your knees. Nobody pays me for writing it, I got a BYD car by myself, so what would be the deal for me writing it? - especially that there's more people saying the same.

As I said. I am 6ft 3, and I have zero issue with the seating position and/or steering wheel position.

Are we really supposed to recline the seat so far back to feel comfortable in the seat? The headrest pushes ur head forwards due to its angle.
