Automatic off/on BYD Seal

cptultor | 2025-12-08 19:26 | 29 views

Hello all. Thank you for all your help so far with getting used to the seal and answering questions as a first time EV owner. I vaguely recall reading somewhere about an auto off/on function on the seal , is this an actual thing as I can't see it in the settings menu, or am I just making it up? Thanks!

You can turn on your car by holding down this button for 3 seconds. https://preview.redd.it/4jgzj6gh816g1.jpeg?width=2267&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db2190cf3c25a00a3ca14c255e8e2f7ef6a9e26e

It's an actual thing, it should be in the driving comfort menu in the settings, toggles for "automatic on" and "automatic off". I think it's been there since version 2.0. When the "automatic on" setting is turned on and you open your driver door the car will turn on (or if turned off and you press the brake pedal). And if the "automatic off" setting is turned on you put the car in park, open the driver door, leave the car and close the driver door (locking it) the car will turn off. The last doesn't work that well, as you have to pull the door handle twice if the car is still in park, I always end up just pressing the button to turn the car off.

1. What an asinine comment. 2. TIL about this function on the fob. Thanks, u/Seal-EV

I tried it in my Tang, but I don't like it. Sometimes I don't want to turn off my car when I leave, and sometimes I don't want the car to turn on when I get into it. I rather just do it manually.

This is a very similar function on Volvo EVs and you can't turn this function off unless you go to the infotainment and click to shut down the engine. I'm using this function. It's very practical.
