The Sealion being a Cayenne copy just makes it a little more interesting to me

i genuinely cannot tell between the cayenne and the sealion at night when its just the headlights on my rear view mirror something with how the projectors are arranged

We've a SL7 premium. It can beat the base model Cayenne off the lights. No hope against the other models though... Except, 1/8 the price...

I’ve got a SL6, so yes, it looks an awful lot like a Cayenne.. but it looks better. I literally wouldn’t trade it for an identical cayenne

Love my SL6. The design is what stands out against typical korea/japan competitors. But i still have soft spot for Lexus design.

The Sealion 6 looks MUCH better than the Cayenne.

I was in the 1st wave of people in my area to get the Sealion 6. That's what everyone was commenting when they saw it and saying "wow! Amazing car", and just being super amazed by it. It only cost $27k. 6 months later and my area is flooded with BYDs and the novelty has worn off. People aren't commenting so much on it.

Same. I'll go "hey another B... y...." And it'll pass by as a Cayenne, same Gucci cream colour. During the day the aggressive cat whiskers on the Sealion6 on the BYDs are easy to pick out from other brands

I swear why did they even hire that guy if all he was going to do was a copy paste job! It was one of the reasons that made me uninterested in the BYD Sealion!

I don’t really like the look of either but then I’m not a SUV person. Many cars are just derivative design - lots of people think my car is a “Tesla”, the same way many call vacuums “Hoovers”, or the fact it looks a bit like a copy of a Taycan. But, as others have said, my Excellence is fine for anything I need compared with the EQS and Taycan Cross Turismo that I was originally looking at.

Sealion 6 copying the Cayenne, Sealion 7 copying the GLS. It's a well-known story at this point, about the BYD CEO giving his S Class to his team and telling them to take it apart to figure it out. This does look like the age old tactic; copy what's good, underprice them so they go under, and once you've overtaken the market, jack up the prices. I really hope I'm wrong, but it's been done quite a few times. BYD is in the position where they can offer prices that are significantly supported by Chinese industrial policy and subsidies. And I doubt that the Chinese government is giving away money with no expectations down the line.

In china it’s also known as the Song Plus! Found that out the hard way when I ordered the wrong set of rain visors for my SL6 😂

Much less is the Cayenne’s exterior design already recognized by the market.

It’s almost ridiculous. If government subsidies were enough to make a company take off overnight, the world would have already been dominated by Chinese cars. BYD’s electric control technology has long been on a whole new level.
