Experience with ZEVPoint 11 kW vs Exicom Chargers for BYD Sealion 7 AWD? Need advice!

everyone,I own a BYD Sealion 7 AWD and recently faced an issue with charging. I initially bought a ZEVPoint 11 kW charger from Amazon to speed up charging at home. The installation went fine, and the charger appeared to work properly. But unfortunately, my car wouldn't charge at all—no estimated charging time, no kW display, nothing on the car’s charging screen. It felt like the car and charger weren’t communicating.I returned the ZEVPoint charger since it was defective as per ZEVPoint. They reached out and recommended buying directly from them rather than a third-party seller.That got me thinking: should I stick with ZEVPoint or switch to Exicom? Because I found out BYD includes a 7.5 kW Exicom charger with the Sealion 7, and it's presumably well integrated with the car. I’m wondering if Exicom would be a better fit for the Sealion 7 AWD even though it’s rated slightly lower (7.5 kW vs 11 kW).For those who own a BYD Sealion 7, which charger brand are you using at home? Has anyone used both ZEVPoint 11 kW and Exicom chargers? How was your experience in terms of compatibility, charging speed, and reliability? Would you recommend sticking with the BYD-supplied Exicom charger or going for a higher-rated third-party charger like ZEVPoint?Any insights, tips, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!Thanks in advance!

I would definitely NOT choose anything below 11kW! If you charge longer, you will have a longer timeframe where the car itself consumes power for the charging process ---> you will have a lot more charging losses!

Different dealerships provide different chargers. I have a BYD branded charger installed: 11kW, 3 phase. That came with the car, Sl7 AWD. Choose the one that has the most protection. To be honest these don't have to be extremely "smart" units. These are essentially extensions of a standard 1 or 3 phase power line, except with some open source communications electronics added. I would say IF your electricity provider has off peak rates AND you can't replenish your daily trip in that timeframe, go for an 11kW one. Else, just go for anything you like because it depends on the price. As for "smart" boxes, you don't exactly need them as the car does allow for configuration of start and end charging times, and if need be charging to 100% past the allocated timeslot.

Also the other thing is the 3 phase runs on a 20A circuit whereas the 1 phase runs on a 40A, so just make sure your cables and breakers are up to spec if you want the 1 phase charger.

You can get an Exicom 11KW 3phase charger as well. It will work without issues and charge much quicker. You only need to make sure your Electrical system js 3Phase. Zevpoint should also work fine. But given the choice, I would choose Exicom and get an extended warranty on the unit.
