Hello, Just bought a Seal and was offered Dash Cam installation as part of the novated lease package, but it costs $1536.36 for both front and rear It would be a SmartVu 4K Dash Camera. Am I getting ripped off here?
Well... The factory dashcam can be had for $150 give or take... It's front only... Aftermarket is going to be "better", but only you can work out if that's worth it...
I actually prefer the factory dashcam since it fits perfectly in the case and I was actually quite shocked that the factory model doesn't come pre-installed, neither is there an option to have it installed... I also cannot find any place to have it installed. So far I've found many tutorials of people installing a OEM camera by themselves but I don't think I want to risk breaking anything If you know a place to install the factory model please let me know
If you can do it yourself, get a low/mid tier front and back Viofo kit. I'd save the trouble and run it off USB behind the panels and along the ceiling. If that's not an option, I'd probably go OEM from AliExpress. And then the last resort would be to put it on the lease as an add-on.
If you are tech savvy you could install the diplus app and enable sentry mode and panorama dashcam. You would need to enable wireless ADB and understand the risks of unlocking the android system.
the usual suspects have guides on youtube, but noting they are for MY2024 cars, I dont know if the 2026 has the same cables - im sure someone can comment. Risk of breaking something is low, they normally give you some plastic tools to help pry the plastic shroud of the windscreen...
the install is a cinch, it can't go wrong, done it myself and integrates with the car just by rebooting, go for it
Thanks man, Ive decided to wait for my car to arrive and see if the cable is already installed I heard some newer seal doesn't come with the cables so it complicates the installation
Doubt it. It wasn't installed in the 2025.
