Seal Indicator
Anyone have an indicator issue for the Seal 2025 where at the slightest turn it would cancel? I noticed this happened alot when approaching roundabouts, because of this i had some close calls. Any solutions?

I experience the same thing on my Seal 2025. Based on what I understand from the dealership team, it’s a known behaviour. BYD designers have tuned the self-cancelling mechanism to be very sensitive, and tied it to a combination of steering angle and ADAS/lane detection logic. Now that I’ve been driving it for about 6 months I’m used to the sensitivity and can consistently mitigate for it prior to using the indicator when I know it’s likely to cancel earlier than I want - mostly by holding the indicator stalk in position when it’s most crucial. It’s not helped by the fact the indicator cabin noise is actually just audio played through the speakers which is sometimes overridden by other chimes, requiring you to make visual confirmation on the dash that the indicator green arrow is indeed flashing still.
Yeah ive noticed this in roundabouts. You might be turning right in the roundabout, but because you turn left first it auto cancels. Ive mostly got used to it after 6 months and either hold down the indicator when making the turn or indicate again. That and the slow AC are my only gripes with the car, otherwise its been awesome.
You're using indicators in roundabouts? I *know* you're not a Perth driver. /s
Two colleagues at work were complaining about this same thing.
Bit of a discussion here about it as well: [https://www.reddit.com/r/BYDSealAus/comments/1npz1v7/indicator\_confusion/](https://www.reddit.com/r/BYDSealAus/comments/1npz1v7/indicator_confusion/)
The indicator cabin noise being played through speakers is my biggest gripe with the car so far. For a car that prioritises ANCAP safety with a bunch of bells and whistles, not having system sounds like the indicator play over media seems like a glaring safety issue.
I never rely on the indicator cabin noise
Same here! Been driving the Seal for about 3 months now. Took me a bit to get used to the indicators cancelling out on me. Especially Sydney's tiny suburban roundabouts. It's annoying but now I'm used to it so I use a finger to hold it down as I turn or hold it down to max a second longer and hope it stays on before a turn.
> because you turn left first it auto cancels I have had this happen in loads of cars, its not exactly unique to the seal.
Oh right, ive never noticed that before. My last car was such a POS the indicator would stay on until you turned it off 🙃.
my second vehicle doesn't cancel left most of the time. was an old auspost van, so I suspect they did mostly left turns.
I often notice this but generally notice it is when I just flick the indicator and it then gives about 3 flashes (it happens on straight line). The difference to my prior cars was when you indicated the indicator stalk would lock down
The indicator is my biggest annoyance. I also dislike when indicating to change lanes, and if you slide over too shallow/slowly, the lane assist kicks in and tries pushing back
NCAP = GOOD ANCAP = NOT But I agree that the indicator noise should be prior to system sounds, nevertheless.
the indicator is super annoying frankly one of the worst ui elements of the car... they need to go back to a proper indicator that locks into position as we have had for 100 yrs (and in the 23 model)... not this bmw style electronic one.
