Things to know when buying a used BYD Seal?

Wyanaut | 2025-09-05 23:15 | 10 views

Hi all, looking at the option of possibly buying a used 2024 BYD Seal in a different state since it seems to be a bit cheaper than buying a new one. Has anyone had experience with this and is there any risks associated with buying a used BYD? Is there anything I should look out for when inspecting the car? Thanks in advance

The big note that the manual says that if it's taken damage to the underneath of the car, it needs to be inspected. It's a low car, so hitting a speed bump at a too fast speed could even do that. Secondly, if it's been in water, that would require a full inspection as well. After that, I would ask the seller, "How do I calibrate the battery?" (Drive it under 10% before charging), if they don't know that, what else didn't they care about? Perhaps say, "I heard the seals are quick. Can it really go?" And see what they say, you might get some idea of how hard they drove it. How many kilometres has it done, and what version is it? These will tell you how much thread should be on the tires, and that will tell you how they have driven it. It would be easy to get a car that's had a hard life already. If there is a new set of tires, when were they changed, and what are they? Did it get paint protection? Did it get a tint? Does it have an aftermarket roof shade, etc? Post when you know and I'll help as best I can. Edit - I would really suggest paying for two hours time at a BYD service centre and getting them to do a report on the car, that would be the safest bet.

Thank you for that rundown! Unfortunately the seller told me later on that they just sold the car to someone else so I ended up putting in a deposit for the 2025 model today instead. Really appreciated your help on this though!
