They lied to you. A dash cam installation does not void warranty. Get one from any major retailer like JB Hifi and you will pay significantly less. Next time they say something like this, get the person saying about the voided warranty to put that in writing in an email to you.

I did ask them if they could clarify on the warranty and this is what i got:
That’s right if you get it done outside and if there is a problem with the car after installing the cams you might loose on electronic part of warranty

You can order the compatible dash cam from here: [BYD Dash Cam](https://www.topbyd.com/products/byd-atto-3-vehicle-mounted-dash-cam). There are videos on youtube that show you have to pop the cover off and install it.

They're BS'ing, it'd be difficult to prove if it did happen.
That'd also rule out things like phone chargers etc being used in the vehicle.

Yeah I'll wait until i get the car, i saw reviews saying it's not compatible with 2025 model.

That is a lie.
If they want to deny a claim they have to prove that the work done caused the problem.
and $1750 is a rip off.

Get that in writing then report them. Blatant lie.

That's correct. The 2025 model does not have the wiring harness in the car for it

Will it work if you purchase the cables?

Yes. I’ve seen YouTube videos of the install and attaching the cable to the interface behind the glovebox looks tricky (but doable).

I had mine installed from an external company. I got to pick what dash cam suited me that way

Bought the BYD camera and cable from TopBYD. Installed today into a 2025 Seal I picked up last week. Followed the instructions here: [https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/96yz8qz6?p=432](https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/96yz8qz6?p=432) end of page. Its a little fiddly but I will do it for $1500 camera included! Pros, integrates with the driving inputs. Cons: not as good as 3rd party and no rear facing camera.

I don't know, it would be a lot of trouble to do it I imagine. It's nice having the OEM dashcam as it's hidden away and is fed telemetry data from the car but the video quality isn't great. An aftermarket one is probably less hassle.
Apparently there is a USB cable inside the black box where the OEM dash cam goes in the 2025 model but people say it doesn't provide enough power for an aftermarket dashcam, bit odd. I might be thinking of the Shark which also doesn't come with the wiring harness.

That dealership should not be there. Uninterested Salesman, no curtosy to even acknowledge that a potential customer is in the store

I was blind about EVs going into the dealership and wanted as much information as i could get before making my decision to either buy an mg4 or a byd seal, and the salesman wasn't helpful at all.
All he had to say was, "It's up to you, but you can look at the reviews".
I get better customer service in a local cafe selling me coffee, honestly.

Just installed the oem dashcam in the 2025 Seal. Took me 90 minutes. Mostly due to watching a video for a slightly different model. This one is the one to use. https://youtu.be/ZTW2eiYODhY?si=eGYWHDNfHtSHV1ki though not in English. But you should only need to open two panels total on the passenger side to run the cable. It’s a bit fiddly to run the cable and connect to the control unit but works great once done.
