2025 Seal Performance - insurance quotes

CasualJan | 2025-04-27 13:35 | 24 views

Thought I'd leave some info from my experience in trying to get comprehensive insurance for my 2025 Seal Performance - maybe this will help people out a bit. What was interesting for me was finding how few insurers (or underwriters) will insure the car. Details: Driver: male, 50yo. Location: Brisbane, south side. Always garaged. Other details: nominated drivers, no under-age (<25/<30) drivers Excess: from $900 to $1,200. We were insured with ING, and when I went to try to switch my insurance over to the Seal, I was informed that ING won't insure the car. Other quotes I got: * Woolworths Everyday Insurance: $1,254.00 * RACQ: $1,349.91 * AAMI: $1,866.00 * Allianz: $2,300.00 (ish) * Youi: $4,500.00 (ish). lol.

My novated lease used Allianz. My loose understanding is most insurers won't touch them because they are difficult to repair and a lot of damages lead to write off's. Similar to most EVs

I'm doing the same. About to fire up a Novated Lease for a Performance, which I'll use Allianz for the first year. I did some quotes (46yo Male, Melbournes West) and the best price I got was from Woolies and AAMI (with a similar excess to what you've quoted). Best price I got was $1,800 from Woolies.

Performance EV variants are difficult and expensive to insure, about 50% of insurers just straight so no, 40% are stupidly high price, 10% are reasonable, just hope you can always find that 10%

I've been with Everyday Insurance for 2 years. Haven't had to make a claim but no complaints so far. You also get 10% off your Woolies bill each month.

Yeah, I figured it was something like that.

In WA and a Premium so bit different on both fronts, but for comparisons sake I got my first (i.e 12 months owned) renewal this morning. $1450 down from $1950 when new, with agreed value of $51k

You haven’t slept around until you’ve been screwed by Youi.

I've just taken out insurance on my Premium this week - I'll pick up the car when I get home next week. I shopped around (I'm with RACWA), and I found that I could get comprehensive though the Commonwealth Bank for $1,441 and agreed value of $57,749. Seems okay. Youi was a pain to get a quote from **Youi**. I completed everything online and then they started calling me to complete the quote. I'm like, "I'm at work... ain't nobody got time fo dat." Hopefully, the CBA will be good.

What rate did you get on your lease? I'm still trying to work out if it's worth it. I just don't want to touch my cash in my offset.

Youi is always a joke. They once said my insurance premium for a small motorcycle ($8k bike) would be upwards of 6k/yr. At least I got a laugh out of it with the guy who flat out said they wouldn’t even try to sell it to me.

That's not bad. Woollies is 24 months new for old, provided I'm the first registered owner.
