[Seal 2025] Has anyone managed to get the damn dash cam USB port open?

You'll need a plastic prying tool. Also - from experience... Don't stick the tool too far in... Just clip it under the edge of it won't work!

Is it different from the 2024 model? We are waiting delivery of our 2025 seal and I have pre bought the dash cam from aliexpress. Was thinking installation would be the same as in the YouTube videos for the 2024 seal?

Yeah unfortunately it's different. The factory wiring for the dashcam isn't in place like previous models, you need to purchase it and run it yourself. Additionally, there's a USB port up there now so you can easily connect an aftermarket cam.

I guess it's the same procedure, super easy👍 - only thing is that cable/wire could be missing, you can buy it almost anywhere though. Cable/wire was preinstalled in EU models, so i hope it also is in yours 🤞

Which wiring do you need to run? To where? Is this only if fitting the OEM dash cam? If it's only for OEM I guess it's more motivation to go a better quality aftermarket as I've seen plenty of feedback that the OEM dash cam quality even though being 1080p is not the best. I picked up '25 Seal few days ago.

Thanks for that. Oh well, I should've waited before buying the camera... Probably best to use an aftermarket cam, I have a 2k viofo which would be better than the oem cam.

Yeh that's what I'm hoping, another member says the wire needs to be installed in the 25 however... Oh well :)

How did you go with the USB port behind the mirror on the Seal? I found a couple of problems with it (1) it’s always on, and (2) not enough power for a dash cam.

Yeah I’ve also found it doesn’t have enough power for a dash cam. Pretty disappointing tbh. Might have to go with the potato quality OEM cam

How do you wire up the OEM one on a Seal 2025? I thought the wiring loom was missing.

If OEM dashcam, then you also need a USB-A end of a cable.... SHIT

Yes they do. Well at least it fits the Seal. Got mine installed by BYD service in Ringwood because the 2025 does not have the cable pre-installed. They did all that for AUD $76

Don't know where you are located by BYD Service in Ringwood installed mine. I did order the cable with the camera. The service center did the rest for $76

I have a BYD Seal 2025, and the video you linked helped me to get the Original OEM Dashcam working in it

there's no wiring harness in the roof or behind the mirror. Pulled everything apart to check this myself. Scratching my head.

Correct. You need to do all wiring as there is nothing. Bizarre as the previous model did have it all pre-wired.

Found the silver box behind the USB plugs. Just pulled the passenger foot trim out then ran up behind the glove box, A pillar and roof trim. Finally working and plugged in a 64GB micro SD!

Interesting. I'm buying a new ATTO 2 from the same dealer and they did not mention OEM dash cam (quoting me $1250 for front and rear). Did you provide the OEM dash cam to them and they just installed it? Or they already had it on hand?

I provided all and just went to service centre not the dealer. Maybe Atto is more work? Or they found new revenue stream🫣

I suspect the latter. Spoke to them about this today and they denied even installing if I purchase. But appreciate your comment.
