Just budget for replacement every 2 years, unless your NL is horrible you will get back any misallocated funds at the termination of the lease...

I’ve only got a Premium and my Continentals are due for replacement before 20,000. $1,700 isn’t even one set of tyres at around $500 each.

Yeah, which is why I'm looking at ways to overcommit on the NL numbers, so my account remains in surplus. I've asked for the quote to be amended to assume worst case of new tyres every 12 months based on $380 per tyre.

I wouldn't go overboard, you're still going to get taxed on the money back at the end...

I had to replace a tyre a couple months ago (puncture on side wall), replacement was $369 @ mycar. Edit: WOW looking at mycar now, they are $419 :(

Yeah I don’t know. I asked around on reddit when I took my car in to get the tyres rotated at 12,000 km and was told that they were already down to the indicator bars. I was basically mocked and told that it was my fault for having a heavy foot and I need to understand the weight and torque I was dealing with. I’m coming from a G6e Turbo that is only slightly lighter and even faster off the line and I could make even cheap tyres last 50,000 km. I took my car into a service centre to see if there was a setup problem, although the wear was even so not likely to be from over or under inflation. I assume you have the Continental EcoContacts? I have long suspected that I was given tyres from a dodgy batch. Sorry to camp in your post OP, but this is more constructive than the post I made.

Nah. I took it to an independent tyre place for the rotation. He wasn’t even saying I needed to replace the tyres yet, just that he couldn’t put the worn rears on the front for safety reasons. They did make a point at my 5k service of telling me that I should rotate them at 10k (I was slightly late in following their advice) which suggests to me that the wear was already evident at 5k.

You mean like the toe-in and camber? There was nothing obvious according to the tyre guy, and it was the owner I’ve been dealing with for years. He did an alignment before giving it back to me, but it was fine before adjustment. That was also what I was hoping the service centre would look for but they assured me that everything was normal. The only remaining issue I can think of is the tyre itself, and this seems more likely given that u/Hodlme_thrillme appears to drive similarly to me without issue. The only difference is maybe that I drive across Brisbane at least eight times a week so probably do more stop and go driving. Basically I’ll be hoping for the best with my next set of tyres.

The EcoContacts are terrible. I changed to Michelin Pilot Sport 5s, night and day difference, especially in the wet.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. There have been a few times during the course of my Subaru XV lease that I had to pay from my own pocket since there were not enough funds. I eventually claimed it back, but I had to wait a few pay cycles before there was enough $ in the account. This time, with some lessons learned I'd like to try to keep the account in the black more often than not.

fair enough i haven't got any data myself, only anecdotal references by other people, but unless your at the drags every night, then the stock tyres should last at least 20k... for me thats 2 years... give or take...

With the lease, I should be able to adjust the amounts funnelled into the account. If I don't have enough, I can allocate more. If I have too much, I can reduce what is put into the acct.

Does the Premium and Performance come with the same Continental tyre?

Where are you getting your tyres from at $1,700? Tyroola has those (including fitting) for $1,400.

I haven’t actually bought any, but any inquiries I’ve made have come up at around $500 for this or similar tyres for the weight. I hadn’t checked Tyroola, but it does involve having them shipped to a third party to fit, which probably wouldn’t be my first choice. As far as I can see they would still be $1,595 including shipping, fitting and wheel alignment.

My rears only lasted 8000km's

Took me about 12 weeks to get my surplus back at the end of my last lease. Thanks, SmartLeasing.

We got 27k kms on the EcoContact 6Qs on a Performance and on a NL. Bob Jaynes price matched an online site and we paid just under $1200 for four new ones. For the duration of the lease we will need another two sets at this rate. And budgeted is only $2400. So will have to see with the next set if we switch entirely to something more long lasting. Just want them to have enough grip and quiet, could give a toss about the range.

Do you mind me asking the tread life on the PS5’s, if you know at this point. I have PS5s on my Abarth and they wear pretty quick, def have the grip and handling down pat, just worry the tread life wouldn’t be as great on the Seal Perf (the Abarth is a weekend car and has 3k kms in 3 years and almost half worn)

They are fairly soft, I don't really have enough wear on them yet to really judge though.
