Poor paint quality on the black Seal

21Radon | 2025-02-03 08:57 | 23 views

Has anyone picked up a non-white BYD and noticed the paint to be quite poor? I have had my Seal for 4 months now and have recently noticed white specks on the black paint. Once I first noticed it, I couldn't unnotice it and it's everywhere all over the car. It looks to either be a white primer coat that the black didn't cover or white overspray on top of the black. It's in the door grooves, along the windscreen arms, on the boot, around the front parking sensors, etc. It won't polish out either as I had a clear ceramic coat applied to the car before I picked it up and most likely has covered these imperfections underneath it. Also, as we probably all experienced, you don't see your car until you've signed the paperwork and paid the money. So these things are never noticed intially. Anyone else experience the same thing? Maybe I've received a Friday arvo model off the production line.

"Also, as we probably all experienced, you don't see your car until you've signed the paperwork and paid the money." I was left alone with car long enough for me to check everything, then I handed over the bank cheque and signed.

My money was sent from the lease company well before I took delivery, so I don’t think OP’s experience needs to be questioned. I’ve got a black seal, but I haven’t noticed white undercoat coming through, although I do wish I had picked the blue/grey colour rather than black as I have never been able to manage to clean it without water spots ruining the appearance.

Yeah you can't always see the car before you sign. But you can certainly check it before 4 months go past. At least wash it before you take pics so we can see what you are talking about.

Use a spot free rinse at the car wash or if washing at home, get something that can remove minerals from the water. No more spots!

Have Atlantis Grey for 12 months, no issues I can see so far.

Have not noticed any issues on my Atlantis Grey,.but some of those look like small chips, others look like you drove behind a painter or cement truck and got droplets.

My wifes black performance had the exact same issues. She opted for ceramic coating - the white fluff is left over from not cleaning up after ceramic coat. We refused to take delivery and they drove that home after "fixing" it for a week. we had to send it back for another trip to remove ceramic coating buff out the scratches... It was still hopeless when it came back, then the sales person told us to go look the black in showroom and told us how much worse it was.... she gave up after that. Anyway bottom line is don't get black you see everything....

It’s a Chinese made Build Your Dreams. Great paint is not an expectation, is it.

It’s a cheap Chinese export car, not something luxury or built to last longer than the warranty period Buy cheap crap, receive cheap crap

redditsucksballs3475 2025-02-07 09:46

Or don’t buy a cheap Chinese export car and expect any quality

Welcome to the world of Chinese manufacturing... I worked for Haval/GWM and it is one thing chinese manufactures skimp on and that is paint quality..very thin compared to Japanese manufactures even Australian..

Looks like it could be polish - try removing it with microfibre cloth.
