Travel Sydney to Melbourne in Seal EV - for purchase questions

BobaFett2424 | 2025-02-02 23:12 | 16 views

Hey all - am interested in buying a Seal Performance in the next few months and really want a black one (shark grey is also growing on me), only unfortunate thing is don't seem to be any in Vic (only white seems to pop up).... Has anyone done the trek as mentioned for a trip perhaps and what was your experience? Ie range anxiety/is there a list of stops easy to get to for fast charging/how long was the trip all up? Would most likely fly up with a friend to share driving intervals on the drive back - alternative would be to organise a car transport back for a fee but dont mind the drive as have done it before for ICE car in the past n was pretty fun with a mate

Use A Better Route Planner to find good stops. Get Chargefox and Evie apps at least. Maybe Tesla app. Need them for chargers. There's also bp pulse and other apps but these are the main charges I see.

I'm in Melbourne (with a black Premium) and just did a trip up and back to Canberra. Topped off at Beechworth at an Evie charger while I had lunch and again at Tesla in Yass so I had a full tank to tour around Canberra while I was there. On the way back stopping at Tesla Yass and Tesla Albury.

I just finished doing the Melbourne-Newcastle trip, (Dolphin 60KWh). I charged 4 times each way using Evie, Tesla and Ampol. Using the Plugshare app made it pretty easy to work out the best route and charges to use. It was a nice drive.

I live in Albury and have a seal performance and it’s totally fine. The Hume highway has so many fast chargers.

https://thedriven.io/2024/11/07/byd-seal-road-trip-cruisy-and-comfortable-but-stalled-at-the-charging-stops/ Found this article and assume these tesla charging issues have been resolved in most of the older seal models and probably dont need as many stops as the author had if departed fully charged etc

I've done Syd - Sunshine coast twice and Syd - Griffith with Seal Premium. A bit of planning ahead takes out any stress. Good idea to download the Plugshare app.

Wow thats a fair distance! Think its all about getting the sweet spot n not stopping too often

The supercharger compatibility upgrade on the older Seals requires a harness to be retrofitted. It's only done if specifically requested.

Oh good to know if its been completed thanks!
