BYD Seal Premium Or Dynamic?

StrategyAmbitious367 | 2024-11-19 11:13 | 17 views

Hi Seal Fam! I'm about to pull the trigger on a novated lease on my Seal - Dynamic. (I think the $3000 sale with a free charger is a great deal.) What do you guys think of my NL rate? Also, I'm just tossing up between Dynamic and Premium. Premium will be $33 more per fortnight. Do any Dynamic owners have any regrets about not upgrading to a Premium? Is the power/torque difference significantly noticeable? (I will be driving on urban roads to work, groceries, etc.) Premium says it comes with leather wrapped steering. Does the Dynamic come with plastic wheels? TIA https://preview.redd.it/rtotgvc5eu1e1.png?width=962&format=png&auto=webp&s=501fe1eea6c50997ef3559f7b16bb3a452ad5a01

I can tell you I was tossing up between both and I'm so glad I got the premium. The extra range makes it worth it, much more practical.

Other than the range element, what do you like about the premium? Dealer would never have the dynamic for me to test drive. Would always have the premium or performance only.

There are nice to have features, like the HUD and leather... But if I'm honest nothing that I would pay the extra for without the benefit of the range.

I found three major differences that made the diff for me: 1.the extra range, 2. Concierge seat adjustment (seat automatically moves to maximum distance from steering wheel on entry then back to normal when you sit. 3. Better road noise between the better tyres and better windows Weirdly, I reckon the concierge seating and the road noise I appreciate the most

I have the dynamic but only because it was the only one approved for my NL. While I would’ve liked the premium, I also prefer the wheels on the dynamic and the non-leather seats. The steering wheel has a synthetic leather material on the dynamic trim. I don’t worry much about range most of the time. I have done a long trip with my car a few months back and I was able to get there and back without recharging. Get the Seal while the sale is on. Also have you considered getting a self-managed NL? It made it so much cheaper (It takes around $200 out of my fortnightly take home pay). I had a think about the what benefits you get on the premium that the dynamic doesn’t have. For me, nothing stands out besides range and driver profiles (sometimes my partner likes to borrow my car). Overall no regrets getting the dynamic, and I’m pretty happy with it being my first EV.

I got the performance, couldn't imagine getting a dynamic now.

Premium. Range, leather seats/wrapped steering wheel, 19" wheels. Looking back over the brochure, HUD, side mirrors tilt when reversing (see parking space lines better) and drivers seat memory position (so handy to put the seat back how you liked it especially after its been moved to clean or someone else had driven it).

We bought the dynamic because we have a leaner driver in the house and P platers in NSW can't drive either the premium or performance. I love the car, it has enough acceleration. The things I miss about the premium is the head up.display and seat position memory.

Premium is definitely worth it. Extra range, extra power, better tyres, leather, heads up display, seat and mirror memory. All are "nice to haves" rather than essentials, but they all add up to substantially better experience for a small increase in cost.

Aren't the rear passenger windows double glazed on the premium? I might have seen somewhere that the premium has double glazed windows on all door windows while the dynamic doesn't. But this needs confirmation as the brochure doesn't show this.

the self-managed NL is new to me... how does it work and how does it end up around $200 only?

StrategyAmbitious367 2024-11-19 22:28

$200 for self managed?? That’s crazy. So you take care of finance and running costs yourself and claim the tax benefit with your employer?

Doctorgow 2024-11-19 22:29

I have the premium and there are certainly some quality of life improvements that makes it worth the upgrade at least for me. 1: its not just the steering wheel that’s leather, the seats are too whereas in the dynamic the seats are a faux leather 2: the premium has a heads up display whereas the dynamic does not 3: the additional range of the premium means you don’t have to worry about charging it as often 4: It’s faster 😉 Those are just some of the important differentiators for me but honestly you can’t really go wrong either way

I got the Premium and not sure the difference in cost on NL but would say the Range, Power, HUD, Mirrors definitely worth it. I sometimes think whether I should have paid that little extra and got Performance, but think I would have lost my license by now if I did and then the range also drops a little.

My workplace only works with Maxxia but they do self-managed novated leases (they will convince you not to take it as they will try to sell their fully managed leases which includes a lot of add-ons). I got my own financier and had Maxxia set up a novated lease agreement with my workplace and the financier. I also shopped around for my own car insurance (which can then be paid for through the novated lease by reimbursement). The only thing you’ll probably miss out on that was beneficial in the fully managed leases is the income protection insurance but that’s about it. Because of the lack of add-ons, it lowers the costs substantially.

Astrarle 2024-11-19 23:24

Essentially yes. I found my own financier and car insurance, and I while I pay out of pocket for running costs, those can be reimbursed back to you using your novated lease funds as with a fully managed lease. I recommend looking into it first and see if it’s right for you.

The acceleration on the Performance is incredible if it's any consolation.

FerociousVader 2024-11-20 03:39

I didn't realise the premium has better windows. I have the premium but test drove the dynamic... I think the dynamic felt a bit sportier with the smaller tires and lighter battery. I think range ends up being less of a margin because the dynamic should be more economical (at least around town). Might have missed that extra power though, 230 kW is nice. I think the premium also has faster charging btw.

Numerous-Implement47 2024-11-20 04:16

Yeah I test drove it! When I drove the Premium I also felt that, but now I'm used to it, I think the Performance would be nice 😅
