Seal lion 6 (seal u) steering noise, anyone else?

Hi everyone! I’ve got a BYD Seal U and since day one I’ve noticed an annoying rubbing noise when turning the steering wheel at very low speed(4/5 km/h)or when stopped if I move it slowly. The sound feels like something is rubbing and it seems to come from just behind or below the steering wheel, inside the column area. I can’t hear it from outside, only inside the cabin. It doesn’t sound like a knock or a clunk, more like a continuous “rubbing/creaking” as I turn the wheel. I’ve already reported it to BYD. They let me test two other Seal U units and both had the exact same noise, so it looks like it might be “normal” for this model, but it’s driving me insane. Have you noticed the same on yours? Is there anything that can be done? It’s just annoying me so much 🫩 Thank you all!

We have this question a lot. The main culprit is rusty brake rotors. You may need to take the wheels off, get some steel wool and start scrubbing. If the rotor is only slightly discoloured, try a series of heavy braking in a quiet area.

Yo tengo ese mismo problema y tengo el coche en el taller para solucionarlo en garantia., es algún problema con el palier delantero.

Thanks for the reply! But I just got a seal u dmi with 200km as a replacement whilst mine was in to get some parts replaced and it was doing exactly the same noise. If the car is brand new can it have rusty brake rotors?

Me cambiarán la caja de dirección en garantía y quedo exactamente igual. Dicen que no lo ven como un problema y que es un ruido normal :(

En el mio el ruido está solucionado cambiando unas tuercas de la dirección en el taller.
