Byd Seal U DM-i Chewed hybrid cables and many issues

Spare-Regret-2503 | 2026-02-21 14:12 | 41 views

Hi, Last time I posted this, I was accused of using AI because I removed the serial numbers from the photo to protect my privacy. Today I’m adding them completely unedited, no processing at all. After more than 2 months of struggling with the service center, the replacement parts have finally arrived to repair the car. After the car was in service center for over a week, it turned out that to replace the cables they have to remove the battery.... The car has now only 1,600 km on the clock. I bought it brand new, so it supposed to be completely defect-free. Not only did ordering the parts alone take over two months, but now I’m being told that my vehicle will be dismantled - it’s going to become a repaired, faulty car with significantly lower value than a brand-new one. On top of that, other issues have appeared: the car won’t connect to DC fast chargers, the rear window washer doesn’t work, there’s a washer fluid leak somewhere underneath, the driver’s display loses contrast and shows artifacts at lower temperatures, and the front hood won’t open even after pulling the lever twice. What would you do if you were in my shoes?

Did the rat eat that cover?

I don’t know what, but something eat it... When I picked up the car, it didn’t occur to me to check under the hood. When I drove it home, I saw chewed wires and reported it immediately, within the first 24 hours after taking delivery. So make sure to inspect your cars carefully, because this most likely happened in the BYD parking lot...

This is something to discuss with legal assistance. I pay 250euro yearly for independent legal aid. Hopefully you can rely on any service in your country. Where are you from by the way? My guess is Poland I'll definitely check mine before leaving the store after I pick it up.

Well, of course for an average joe. We dont inspect our car like that under the hood every time we drive it out. Human nature, unless theres a reason for it. I think its a rat…. They are the one who have the ability to go under the hood.

I'm Polish, but I live on Tenerife and I bought a car here too. I’ve already spoken to a lawyer and I have very solid grounds to demand a replacement with a new vehicle or a full refund - and that’s exactly what I’m currently demanding. I’m just curious what you would do if something like this happened to you. Would you agree to a repair? Would you take the car back? The seller didn’t offer anything except a courtesy car…

Sounds like a problem on your country distribution. Unfortunately really.

Does your country have a lemon law or something like that? I would try to return the car to the dealership.

¡Gracias, hermano!

I had the same troubles, of a rat living in the hood of my Seal U DM-I. I’m 100% sure it was there since I got the car, so we are already two. I got my car in Italy and you ?

The first thing you need to do is engage a pest exterminator. 🐜🪳🪳

And how was the case resolved? I have mine from Spanish distribution. I’ve already spoken with lawyers — take it to the service center! Insurance companies are already checking the vehicle’s service history for any interference with the high-voltage system, and in the event of a fire or accident, they refuse to pay compensation. I don’t want this car back — I want a new one free of defects, or a full refund, and that’s what I will fight for. I won’t feel safe after such a major repair and interference with the hybrid system!

I took the car to the dealer and they said the rat didn’t do any damage - they sprayed the hood with an anti rodent product. Then I captured the ray by myself - it was huge!

Capture rat?

Three months after purchase, nearly two months of the car being immobilized at the service center, and following the official intervention of my lawyer, I honestly do not recommend buying cars of this brand – at least in Europe. When I requested photographic documentation of every stage of the repair process, I received an official response stating that they found no technical or procedural justification for such a request and that it could be interpreted as a lack of trust in the BYD brand. They also stated that they comply with procedures and operate excellently and professionally. How am I supposed to trust them when their procedures allowed for – and ultimately led to – the delivery of a vehicle with numerous defects and chewed high-voltage system cables? I genuinely do not recommend this brand. To anyone who is about to take delivery of a newly purchased vehicle, I sincerely advise paying for a professional pre-delivery inspection service and proceeding as if you were buying a used car. It is disappointing how a company entering the European market treats its customers. Instead of replacing the vehicle and turning my case into positive marketing and promotion, they have very effectively discouraged my neighbors, friends, and family from purchasing cars of their brand. I HIGHLY NOT recommend buying cars of this brand!!!
