BYD Seal - Minimal display cluster / infotainment request

Hey everyone. Took delivery of my indigo grey seal as a company car last Monday. There is lots I love about the car but I’m really struggling with the screen. I’m ADHD which means I get distracted by things in my peripheral vision, I also find the cluster super distracting. I have ‘simple’ mode active but I really need to turn off all the useless nonsense - I simply don’t need \- compass direction \- outside temperature \- silly stats for tyre pressure or usage right in the middle \- the range in miles and % and status bar \- podcast playing scroller \- what ever the KW bit is on the right side, I don’t know what this means or why it’s relevant. For all I care it could display the number of bananas worth of energy used in Arabic numerals. \- all the icons for things that are off. So complaint over - is there anyway better than my current plan which is some black static film with holes cut out for the MPH and that’s about. Side quest - Can the current speed zone be turned off? Flashing when you go over speed limit - when it’s sometimes wrong - it’s so annoying. I’ve turned off the HUD as that doesn’t help me at all. Thanks everyone!

Read the manual to learn how to turn things off and change the settings. To not see alot of the information, your blocking it out idea is probably your best bet.

The HUD is a problem? Have you turned off the extra info in the HUD?

I never really look at the cluster, just use the HUD. the kW display is how much power is coming from the battery. Try and set a high score! (observe all applicable local laws) how much range you have is clearly important. Consider upping your ADHD meds?

If you swipe down from outside the top of screen (similar to iPad) there’s a quick access menu to just turn off the screen

There's also a shortcut called SLW (speed limit warning i think) which you can toggle. Might need to add it to the menu if it isn't there by default. It's a permanent setting so you only need to deactivate once and not every time the car starts.

> If you swipe down from outside the top of screen (similar to iPad) there’s a quick access menu to just turn off the screen they are talking about the drivers screen behind the wheel, not the infotainment screen.

I played with a few bits but in the end opted to turn it off. The flashing speed limit thing was just too much of a distraction for me - shame as the HUD was something I was looking forward to.

Thanks - I’m on a journey with the old pills. It just seems to be to be useless - it’s like they thought what can replace a rev counter?

Forkhandles_ 2026-02-20 07:12

I do now turn the middle screen off. It’s a bit daft given for 99% of people it’s a big reason they love the car!

Forkhandles_ 2026-02-20 07:13

Oh - thank you, I’ll give it a look today.

Forkhandles_ 2026-02-20 07:14

Ohhhh … I didn’t know the cluster behind the wheel was touch screen. I didn’t get to see the car before I chose it from the list and when it was delivered the guy just rolled it off the trailer and said “well here you go, you know how an EV works yeah?”

Forkhandles_ 2026-02-20 07:15

Thank you - the car didn’t come with a manual so I don’t really know how to do everything - it’s trial and error and after spending 12+ hours in it yesterday I was a bit frazzled so turned to the community for some tip and guidance.

I wish we can use the same display when in simple mode...

SexyDraenei 2026-02-20 12:10

its not.

SexyDraenei 2026-02-20 12:11

> the car didn’t come with a manual Yes it did, its an app in the infotainment. (also a PDF on the website)

Forkhandles_ 2026-02-20 12:41

I just assumed it went missing and was going to contact the lease company. I don’t think it would’ve considered normal for a manual to be in the car’s infotainment system - it’s great but not normal.
