Turns out my Seal remotely activated aircon wasn't "broken" - but the car won't open the front grill shutters unless you actually turn the car on
I always thought there was something wrong with the remote function (via phone or keyfob) to turn on the aircon when you're not in the car. It simply doesn't work well when the car is parked under the sun on a hot day, the air won't come out cold from the vents. Today, through another post outside reddit, I learned why: the front grill shutters won't open during the process, making the whole system very inneficient. **A solution to that is to also turn on the vented seats.** When turning the vented seats on as well (using your phone app), you will notice that the car actually powers on, unfolds the mirror, and the infotainment system lights up. Apparently it can continue playing music where you stopped so make sure the volume isn't too loud. By turning on the vented seats (and consequently the whole car), the shutters actually open making the aircon system work as intended. I'm surprised BYD hasn't fixed this yet, it's so simple.
