Hi Everyone, I’m looking for some advice from fellow BYD Seal owners. My BYD Seal Design RWD is brand new (just ~600 km driven). I noticed from early on that the car pulls slightly to the left when the steering wheel is straight, especially noticeable on longer drives. I took the car back to the dealer, and they: *-Confirmed there was an alignment issue *-Carried out a 4-wheel alignment Shared the before and after alignment readings (attached) However, even after the dealer correction, the car still drifts to the left on flat roads. I also noticed that the rear total toe still shows red (00°12) on the final alignment report. Just wanted to check: Has anyone experienced something similar on a new BYD Seal? Did a second alignment or steering centring solve it? Was it a dealer fix, tyre issue, or something else? Any feedback or shared experience would be really helpful. Thanks in advance 👍
00°12' is the preferred toe angle. You can see the mix/max/pref readings on the side that is says 'pref 00°12''. So it's within spec. I would say that the pull might be coming from something else.
Hey there I'm in a byd atto and have noticed a bit of drift, but it is very slight, and the ADS on long drives will usually deal with it. It really depends on what region you are in, but generally most roads have a slight camber (anglel which is mostly to ensure rain or water drains to the gutters of the road. Therefore even if you think the road is flat, it probably isn't perfectly flat. If you are in a right hand drive country, it may drift a bit to the right so that if the wheel is in a neutral position (e.g. driver falls asleep or inattention) you may just drift off to the side of the road rather than into oncoming traffic. The same might be true for left hand drive countries (e.g. left drift) If you want to check, you'd have to find a road which is very flat to be 100% certain. Unless you go to someone is a specialist/independent aligner/tyre shop, a byd aligner will likely just check it is within spec and say its OK (e.g. does the computer program say green? Yes? Then no problem here, good luck)
Any chance you hit a pothole or something fast enough to cause this? If not than I would say the dealer should deal with it!
No. It's the same from the starting and is noticeably high when going above 60 km/h speed
Thank you for your reply Total rear wheel toe-in (") = 0.40 ± 0.16. The above is the values specified in the byd seal user manual When using ICC the steering is tilted right side while going straight in a flat road. I am in right hand drive country.
If you feel vibrations then it’s not to be neglected! Having issues straight out of factory is not impossible, hence all brands have recalls
There is no vibrations. The car is drifting left when the steering is straight. It is noticeably seen above 60 speed
Is the dealer taking responsibility for that, have kept cars for decades and never experienced that
I have similar issues with my seal 5 dmi. I always compensate with micro adjustment during driving. I will also ask for realignment on my next PMS by next month
Mine is drifting right. haha let's exchange steering wheel brother
Yeah sure 😁. I have contacted autoservice.contact@byd.com and they acknowledged this and they mentioned they have informed to the relevant team it seems
nice. I contacted my dealer if it was included in the warranty. I haven't gotten any reply yet
Total rear wheel toe-in (°) 0.40±0.16 The above is what mentioned in the byd seal user manual
Maybe your steering wheel and/or ICC needs adjustments. If your tyres are all in spec, but your steering wheel is pointing off to one side, then the steering wheel tie rods might need adjustment. Once you adjust the tie rods, its also likely the steering sensor systems needs to be recalibrated/reset. You might need to consult a professional to do this (byd or authorised byd service center). But again I don't know what the acceptable spec is. If you can get someone to take a photo/video of the position while driving it might help when you go talk to them.
That makes sense. Thank you
