I’d buy it (at the end of my current lease). Would just need to check how usable the 3rd row is.

ConfidentImage4266 2025-08-19 03:05

TigglyWiggly95 2025-08-19 03:15

Looks nice

[deleted] 2025-08-19 03:16

I see child seat restraints in 3 row. Nice

mucall1 2025-08-19 03:18

Not bad.

Aventador690 2025-08-19 03:19

This is going to sell like crazy here in the states. The idea of making a Model Y for every family is actually pretty cool.

AmbitiousFunction911 2025-08-19 03:26

Bump range up to 400 miles and increase towing capacity to 5,000 with a legitimate/normal unsupported accessory hitch load rating and this would do pretty well in the US as long as they can keep the price down. But I also think they could just make the Model X $60-75k and add in the new captain chairs and rear button controls and sell a lot of those without much effort and a new model

CreativeUsername20 2025-08-19 03:39

No, they should make the Model X into an R1S/Gravity competitor. Use the tech from the CT like 48v and SBW, and that'll put them ahead of both all the competition. Plenty of other automakers change the body of a car and update it entirely every 6 years. Tesla has yet to do that.

AmbitiousFunction911 2025-08-19 03:40

The market for $100k+ cars is small and not what Tesla’s market cap is based on.

Snoo93079 2025-08-19 04:02

Not sure if you're serious but mini vans are larger, boxier, and have sliding side doors

Scared-Win238 2025-08-19 04:17

Battery size ?

Dapper_Pop9544 2025-08-19 04:54

This would sell like crazy.. I don’t think I know of any other similar sized cars with backseat captain seats.. this would go crazy

[deleted] 2025-08-19 05:12

sd_pl 2025-08-19 05:19

Get help.

Ok_Faithlessness_887 2025-08-19 05:21

Would sell more if Elon wouldn't have put on the red cap

ospreyintokyo 2025-08-19 06:18

What do you mean by backseat captain seats? Doesn’t the EV9 have this same set up?

2CommaNoob 2025-08-19 06:36

lol, there is no freaking way we are gonna get these features. Ventilation front and second row? Power folding front and rear? Power armrests? Does the X even have these lux features?.

Hanzeltje 2025-08-19 08:54

I'd love one in Europe.

TooMuchTaurine 2025-08-19 09:21

Why don't they also throw those front seats in standard MY

olexs 2025-08-19 10:03

One has been sighted testing around the Nürburgring area, so there's a decent chance they'll bring it here.

billm0066 2025-08-19 10:17

Rear doors on the X suck.

billm0066 2025-08-19 10:19

Have you been in a coma before mini vans were invented? It’s like asking what’s the difference between an orange and a rock. Are you not able to go on YouTube and watch a video about literally any mini van ever invented?

byrdman77 2025-08-19 10:32

Not sure what they mean either, our EV9 is setup exactly like this.

Ferdinand00 2025-08-19 10:34

How trustworthy is the CTLC range? Can we compare this to other models and see if we should expect more/less range?

FalconX88X 2025-08-19 10:36

About 327 miles or 525km

Ferdinand00 2025-08-19 10:42

Damn, got my hopes up… why is CTLC wildly different?

AlwaysStayHumble 2025-08-19 10:52

You’d be surprised. A standard model 3 also has seat ventilation (for front passengers), something even an S-Class, BMW 7, Audi A8 or any Porsche don’t have as standard in most (all?) markets. They deliver what their costumers want without BS. That’s why they keep winning.

blancmik 2025-08-19 10:54

This is exactly the car we have been waiting for (family of five). The standard Y is simply too small for three teenagers!

AlwaysStayHumble 2025-08-19 10:55

Chinese love to hype up their stuff I guess. Or maybe they do a lot more city driving than western folks.

AlwaysStayHumble 2025-08-19 10:58

Ultimate family car, pretty cool. Love the black headliner.

Breesfan91 2025-08-19 11:03

I like it simply for the captains seats

wuf3ichang 2025-08-19 11:12

Is there boot space?

teal_seam_6 2025-08-19 11:26

I just don't understand why Tesla, an American company, always launch their best products in China. Does Elon really love commie that much?

JC_SB 2025-08-19 12:37

It’s because they can make changes to the supply chain quicker and implement the necessary changes to the assembly line quicker.

AmbitiousFunction911 2025-08-19 12:53

According to? Most owners love them. They work extremely well and are significantly better than traditional doors in tight spaces / garages. The Y is limited being a 6 seater without sliders.

Dapper_Pop9544 2025-08-19 12:55

Ya but the ev9 is a lot larger.. this is the size of a rav4?

ZeroDayBlitz 2025-08-19 13:29

It’s because they actually have competition in China.

Certain_Revenue9278 2025-08-19 14:05

78kwh Correction: 82kwh.

Aventador690 2025-08-19 14:38

Yup, this is the chief complaint from friends/family with older kids of my Model Y. It’s a great car.

anonchurner 2025-08-19 14:47

I'll be swapping my 7-seater Model Y for a Model Y L when it comes to the US. Hopefully, it'll happen before the kids get too tall to fit in the current one.

imironman2018 2025-08-19 15:27

[https://youtu.be/UlXKEXBGzG8](https://youtu.be/UlXKEXBGzG8) this guy covers the 3rd row and how much leg room you get. I have a Model X and it seems the Model YL has more leg room in that 6 seat config.

harda_toenail 2025-08-19 15:51

Heck yeah. If it’ll tow 5k safely this is my perfect car. Wish I didn’t just lease a Silverado ev. Not enjoying that thing.

mn540 2025-08-19 15:53

Why do I suspect that it will cost way more than $46k USD in the US.

ospreyintokyo 2025-08-19 15:54

Oh gotcha. Yes I guess this one is a bit smaller. I just wasn’t sure what you meant by backseat captain seats

Unencrypted_Thoughts 2025-08-19 16:42

It's the head space and lack of ventilation back there I'd worry about the most.

erwos 2025-08-19 16:47

Excellent video, thanks. Looks like that's some pretty usable leg room back there.

matthew19 2025-08-19 16:48

There are 3rd row vents. And seat heaters. And a grown man got back there without his head touching the glass.

oghowie 2025-08-19 17:05

Who would buy an X now?

uben999 2025-08-19 17:19

You will get another problem if you have three teenagers and only two second row seats

IHateSpamCalls 2025-08-19 17:23

The 2nd row captain chairs look nice

danperson1 2025-08-19 17:29

82

Adventurous_Wolf_850 2025-08-19 17:51

Funny American model launching first in china, and people still support elon lol

[deleted] 2025-08-19 18:04

[removed]

feurie 2025-08-19 18:36

This is pretty much the same size as an EV9. That’s the point of this vehicle. To be half a class size bigger than the Y which was already bigger than the RAV4

feurie 2025-08-19 18:37

Yeah all those families of 6 adults going 400 miles and towing 5,000 pounds all the time.

feurie 2025-08-19 18:37

“lol racism” Cool joke.

feurie 2025-08-19 18:38

More competitive market. Cheaper production. Not everything’s a weird conspiracy.

feurie 2025-08-19 18:39

Because parts and labor are more expensive here. It’s not a secret.

AmbitiousFunction911 2025-08-19 18:45

1. The actual range is not even close to the stated range, especially in winter, and especially as the car ages. 2. The range while towing or with accessories on the back is significantly less. Towing a camper or a boat is barely practical for most people with a Tesla… I know, I’ve done it for 8 years. 3. You obviously don’t realize what many family lifestyles are in the American west. Towing and range are important for people going skiing and camping and rafting and on roadtrips. These are still the major use cases that are holding many families back from purchasing an EV SUV or Truck. Not sure why that bothers you.

NewMY2020 2025-08-19 19:04

This is going to be mega for the US, perfect for families and Uber drivers.

jai_thkrl 2025-08-19 19:15

Any idea when this will arrive in Canada?

avantgarden1990 2025-08-19 20:04

All that to gain… 1 seat?

PerfectBad2505 2025-08-19 20:33

This is Tesla. I thought we were out in the open on racism?

jaywoof94 2025-08-19 20:40

Really disappointed with the range. Was hoping for a bigger pack with the longer wheel base.

casino_r0yale 2025-08-19 20:46

Because Americans have more money in general

Dapper_Pop9544 2025-08-19 21:13

Ya bc a lot of cars have bucket seats in the 2nd row but I don’t know of any that are the size of a rav4

Dapper_Pop9544 2025-08-19 21:14

The ev9 is like the size of a ford explorer

Strange-Baby-613 2025-08-19 21:41

It has a black roof!!!! This looks so much better than the two tone thing the 3 & Y have been having since launch.

psaux_grep 2025-08-19 22:14

Just give us those front seats in the normal Y.

khrizp 2025-08-19 22:29

How tall though

RedTheRobot 2025-08-19 22:36

Features are probably to compete with the Chinese brands. Hell one Chinese model has a small projector. Those cars are really cool. I wish the U.S. believed in a free market and competition.

No_Pho_King_Way 2025-08-19 23:02

I can see my wife driving this and me taking over MYLR

2CommaNoob 2025-08-19 23:37

Yes, the front seats have ventilation. OP has notes about both rows with ventilation and the third row is heated. I highly doubts those features along either the power handrests will come if it comes at all.

catlovingtwink99 2025-08-20 00:39

Wouldn’t this cut into Model X sales? It has features that should be in the Model X. It looks good too.

Particular-Task2733 2025-08-20 00:40

Looks pretty good too!

Zealousideal_Aside96 2025-08-20 02:24

My Kia has this feature so I’d assume all those cars listed would as well

fattybunter 2025-08-20 02:39

Ah yes, China- the gold standard for free market

Zero_Abides 2025-08-20 02:50

What is the point of the X now?

matthew19 2025-08-20 03:19

The 5 11 guy said he had a couple of inches of head room. I’m 5’7” and my head touches the glass on my 7 seater model y. So it’s a big improvement even if it’s tight for adults.

1NormHuman 2025-08-20 04:20

Shouldn't you feel proud that a true American company sells so many vehicles around the world. Every region has different requirements / regulations / market conditions. Tesla is a mark of American ingenuity and a global success story. Elon is just a part of it along with thousands of hand working / smart Americans.

1NormHuman 2025-08-20 04:21

Model X is a very small portio of total Tesla sales and mainly sold in US.

WishPrestigious1 2025-08-20 05:15

Will they have Tesla and we have none of the Chinese cars here.

WishPrestigious1 2025-08-20 05:16

CTLC focuses only on city driving at lower speeds.

WishPrestigious1 2025-08-20 05:20

Not the reason. Whatever they loose in China they make it up here. If they know people would pay more they will charge more. A lot less competition here than China.

kneemahp 2025-08-20 05:39

How does it compare to the 7 seat model y? Is the added leg room enough to make it comfortable?

Haunting-Ad-1279 2025-08-20 09:51

lol except most Chinese families have just 1 kid, the birth rate per couple like something 0.98 child .

BlkZ 2025-08-20 13:24

As a model x owner, seeing the second row have arm rests makes me sad lol. Wish we could’ve gotten that in the MX…

LouisWinthorpe-III 2025-08-20 13:27

The difference in fighting between three kids across a bench vs two kids in captain’s chairs and one in the far back is significant.

wsxedcrf 2025-08-20 14:14

It's like saying "Apple would sell more iphone if tim is not gay" , sounds stupid.

p4lxrich 2025-08-20 16:04

Elon said maybe end of next yr but possible that it won’t come to USA

AutomaticAccount6832 2025-08-20 16:30

Make it a 7 seater and it may bring Tesla sales back to Europe. It seems quite obvious actually after taking Model X from the market.

EmergencyMonitor6117 2025-08-20 20:02

Just heard that Elon says likely not coming to N.A.

Brutaka1 2025-08-21 13:11

Holy crap! All that white trim is what I've wished on all of my previous Teslas. Holy cow that looks so good! 🤌🔥

1dayday 2025-08-21 18:25

Is this longer in length vs the normal Y?

[deleted] 2025-08-21 20:28

Everyone wants a 4Runner/suv/Bigger car. Elon wants more baby maybe he help out and make a super cheap “family” car or even imagine this, a “big family” car!  Wow what a concept. Also imagine dog able to jump in the back and sit upright not hitting glass!  Wow family car for big families and their dogs!  Wow !!!

Johndus78 2025-08-22 13:20

I think it’s ugly, I’m sure everyone here would rather have an SUV based on the Cybertruck frame.

Ok_Faithlessness_887 2025-08-22 14:34

You don't think his foray into politics adversely affected Tesla sales?

mohelgamal 2025-08-22 20:49

I really wanted this exact vehicle, but I had to upgrade from an M3 to an X because the Y was too small. And my biggest 3 issues with the X were that the Falcon doors are unnecessarily showy, the middle row seat doesn’t fold, and ofcourse the price which ironically pay for the other two grievances. I may even seriously trade my X in for one of those just for these two things.

mohelgamal 2025-08-22 20:52

I really don’t care what China does with their market I care that we are the ones who supposedly are all about freedom and liberty are not practically allowed to buy Chinese brands because of protectionism to protect legacy auto. Yes I know it is bad for auto workers, but it is also bad for millions of customers who would have had access to a cheaper vehicle and would have put price pressure on Americans to compete

skyypirate 2025-08-23 12:01

Exactly USA could even take a page out of China's playbook. Forcing them to link up with domestic partners in exchange for entry into market.

darw1n69 2025-08-23 23:23

As standard or is it part of a package?

1Bzi 2025-08-28 17:57

Me too! Hate not having arm rests!

Yukycg 2025-08-29 10:55

I got your point but it is like saying I dont care if China use slaves(I know it is a bit too extreme), I care only we allow to import their cheap goods.

mohelgamal 2025-08-29 12:58

Equating not being able to buy cars from a certain company with slavery is a bit much, don’t you think ?
