Awful experience getting tire rotation at Pep Boys

I brought my 2024 MYLR in for a tire rotation today with an appointment made on their website (mind you they ask for the make and model for your vehicle). I bring it in, the guy at the desk goes “some Teslas we can’t rotate here because some of them have too low of a clearance for our machines, we had to reject a Tesla yesterday but we can give yours a try” So I wait there for 90 mins or so, I see my car up on the lift thinking it’s all gonna be done. Then they come to me and say “we can’t rotate your tires because you need to remove your wheel covers”. Now, these are just third party black rim covers that snap off. Idk why they couldn’t just do that themselves. So they sent me home and said to come next time with them off. Awful experience. I’m just gonna drive the extra 30 mins to take to a Tesla shop next time. Anyone else ever go through something like this?

My advice is to not go anywhere else unless it's an emergency. You're kind of lucky they didn't work on the car. If they can't figure out how to take the wheel covers off, you really shouldn't trust them with your car.

Lmfao. Post this as a Google review. A single isolated incident at one of a million tires places in the world is not a Model Y problem

I dunno I mean the shop mentioned Tesla by name so I was just wondering if anyone else ran into this issue at non Tesla places

I go to Discount Tire and never had an issue with them. I am in the Austin area where there are many Teslas. Discount tire does free rotations.

Probably. Because most service techs are idiots. What does it benefit to you to know? Are you wanting a some sort of pity party? Go leave a Google review, more helpful to your locale.

Any shop I go to, I call ahead. If they don’t immediately bring up the fact that they have “pucks” and are familiar with Teslas, I go somewhere else. It’s not worth having my battery pack damaged because the proverbial “new employee” has no knowledge on how to lift up the vehicle.

I hate where I live but thankfully I can afford a home with a garage so I can do rotations myself. On the flip side tho, should I have some kinda electronics failure I'm screwed with the closest SC being 3 hrs away. Life's give and take I guess.

Due to many shady encounters with Pep Boys I wouldn’t trust them to put air in my tires let alone rotate tires. I usually rotate my own tires or visit my local Discount Tire shop

I went to America's tire and had no issue with them
