Question: Mobile multi Access to the Model Y

mag2007 | 2026-03-14 10:25 | 6 views

I have ordered and waiting for the Model Y Premium AWD and have probably a basic question for some of you. As much I watched the instruction videos it is possible to have multiple Phone Keys aswell as having multiple profiles. My goal is, to make it possible for my wife to access the car without me, by using her phone. But she will never actually drive the car. So I don’t want, the Tesla be somehow adjusted (like seat etc.). Is it possible, to just let her be inside the car/open the car, without my phone next to car, and not adjust any car settings? Example: she stays in car, I leave the car for short grocery and the car shouldn’t auto lock, because she is still there. Is this scenario possible, or will I need to disable the auto lock function? Thanks in advance.

Turn on “Dog Mode” while she waits in the car. Tell her she’s a good Gurrrl. I also offer terrific financial advice.

I don’t think it’s possible to set up a phone as a mobile key without it also allowing her to drive the car if she wanted. You can set up different driving profiles but it won’t switch to hers automatically in the example you mentioned (where you were driving but leave). For walk-up unlock, it usually tries to guess who’s driving based on who’s closer to driver side. But it’s not really a problem even if the car gets it wrong, just one tap to switch the profile if the car gets it wrong. Also you could just set up your wife’s profile to be exactly the same as yours if you don’t want things moving around

Yes, camp mode. It keeps the climate and music on, keeps doors unlocked, and alarm won’t go off if doors are opened.

I did this to my mother the first time I took her out.

The profile setting in the car lets you connect a phone key to each profile. Don't connect her phone key and you get what you want. I don't know if each phone key gets a profile automatically. If so, look at my first paragraph. If not, you get what you want.

No, use keep mode, so the temp can be adjusted, and it doesn’t call her a dog.

I don’t think that you can do this, but you can use PIN to drive, and not give her the pin, so she can’t drive off. It seems like there are bigger issues though.

You can toggle that off in the App. WITHOUT the pin
