2 years and 2 months of ownership, 55K miles.

bh1884ap | 2026-03-14 02:18 | 212 views

The HW battery was replaced at 37K miles, the rooftop glass a few thousand miles earlier. 3 wheel hubs with bearings had to be replaced as well over time. I got extended warranty at 50K miles, just in case. Who knows what else I should expect from my precious))

25k miles a year…May I ask what you do for work? Lifestyle? That’s a good bit of time behind the wheel!

bh1884ap 2026-03-14 02:42

I like to travel alone or with my family. I never use my car for business. A while ago, when I lived in LA my roundtrip to work was almost 90 miles. I drove over 90,000 miles in 2.5 years before selling my first Tesla.

My 2022 has 95k miles and I haven’t had to replace anything except tires

Are you me?! I have a 23LR with the same 20” wheels and even in red. I’ve had it for 2 years and 3 months. Just hit 56K miles and I’ve only had the front lower lateral links done at 45K miles.

What was the failure of the HV battery?

SnooKiwis6943 2026-03-14 05:28

My 22 has 30k miles and I have needed 3 window regulators across different doors, a new headlight due to water ingress, new interior panels due to broken retainer clips from the factory, new dashboard trim as the original started to crack, and finally I have a rear right sticking brake that Tesla refuses to fix (claiming I need to use the brakes more). Needless to say that’s the only brake with the issue and burnishing did not resolve it. Brake issue started 20k miles ago. My car is a Fremont build.

What is NN?

Dang, I guess I’ve been lucky.

Mine is 23LR as well, made in Fremont.

Icy-Race-5654 2026-03-14 13:54

23LR with 72K miles on it. Stock tires lasted until 55K. I may need to replace the windshield. Battery is at 86% life. I charge daily. Other than that it’s been a great ride so far.

I am at 71k.. 2024. A 120 mile round trip commute plus road trips

Sure.... 😉

StormTrpr66 2026-03-14 15:06

Just curious, what were the issues with the battery and rooftop glass?

Influxlve 2026-03-14 15:36

Right there with you too except 115k miles.

Replacing wheel bearings that early is wild. Were they covered under warranty?

Firebird5488 2026-03-14 18:16

Do you use mostly super charging? At the time you needed HW battery replacement, did it show a fault when you tried to charge on L2 or supercharging?

2023 LR with 118k miles on second set of tires. 120+ miles a day. Replaced windshield and just last week had the drive unit oil pump replaced. Luckily still under warranty.

Mr_Know_Nothing7 2026-03-15 08:47

Looks brand new. 👍🏻

bh1884ap 2026-03-15 13:06

Yes, except the first LF one which I chose to replace at a 3rd party shop. The roads were good in my area (I was living in Upstate NY)

bh1884ap 2026-03-15 13:12

I had used supercharging only on long trips which was about 20-25% of the time. I can't find where I put the photos of the screen, but the car turned off the AC, was showing a turtle on the screen and saying that the car was in limp mode. Nothing about the battery. My hypothesis was a dead 12V one. Luckily, I was on a trip, and a Tesla Service Center was a 0.5 mile away. They gave me a loaner snd said that they needed to keep the car for a while to figure out what was wrong with it. I will continue searching for the pictures, and add them here if I find them.

Repair Notes from the Invoice: Technician inspected the vehicle and verified the "power reduced" alert was active due to low external high voltage isolation. The issue was caused by a low isolation resistance in the high voltage battery. To resolve this, the technician replaced the high voltage battery, performed coolant drain and refill, and conducted isolation and thread repair tests. After the repairs, a validation test drive confirmed the alert was no longer present and the vehicle's power was restored to normal.

bh1884ap 2026-03-15 13:27

My battery was at 86% at 37K miles just before it failed. It was replaced with a remanufactured one with the same capacity, and now it is at 85% remaining.

A tiny plastic clip got caught by the closing trunk and it cracked the rooftop glass from the stress point up to the center of the glass

DeathBlade94 2026-03-15 15:15

How did they handle recovering the car to a service center assuming you were not in just in Birmingham? I’m in thr Huntsville area so I am basically in the dead middle distance wise to Franklin or the Birmingham service center.

start3ch 2026-03-15 16:19

Definitely seem you may have gotten unlucky here. Wheel bearings are good for much longer than 50k miles, and the HV battery usually lasts the life of the car. Good thing they were covered!

bh1884ap 2026-03-15 17:49

I live in Dothan, and the closest SC is in Talahasse, a 100 miles away. Not too bad. My car HV battery failed while I was living in NY being on a trip 325 miles away from home basically next to a Service Center. I was lucky that they gave me a loaner, and I could continue my trip and come back to pick up my car a couple of weeks later.
