New car with scratches

Hello, first time EV owner. Took a delivery of my new model Y AWD yesterday and today, we found many scratches even a small dent right in the curve on the back passenger door panel. Put in a service ticket within 24 hours. Anyone has an experience with similar situation on their new car where Tesla fix to your satisfaction and if there’s something else I need to do? Thanks!

I traveled across the state to buy my Y so I didn't want to refuse delivery because of scratches on the bumper and damaged trim. I made an appointment and everything was fixed. I think that the appointment availability was a little booked out at the time.

I bought a MY in 2024 online and accepted it in person at a showroom. As soon as I clicked accept and got in I noticed the glass roof had a sizable chip/crack that wasn't visible from the outside. Walked back in, the guy scheduled a service appointment, took about 6 weeks for them to take the car and then a day or two to fix. No cost and I got a loaner which made me appreciate my MY even more. Hope they treat you well

Yep when I got it last year I had them fix several scratches on the spot. And it was perfect. You should be good!

Why do the cars arrive new with scratches on them?

Because Tesla is a "green" company and doesn't wrap them in wasteful, plastic products for en route protection. Ever see a transport truck taking them to the Tesla Center? I've never seen them covered. Beyond that, they don't dedicate too many hours on pre-pickup inspections. Mine is solid black. It had scratches/swirls that it needed compound/ polish to remove them. Then they left compound spots that looked like a wax haze. 2 appts later, and I stood watch as the location manager came out and buffed them away. Then I covered the car in ppf. It took a while, but I got what I felt I paid for.

There have been some good experiences and some bad ones reported Sometimes they do a very bad job of fixing the paint defects Guess it depends on your luck and the skill/experience of the service guy

Tesla has always lacked quality control procedures. It’s one of the drawbacks to an otherwise great car. You have to have an eagle eye at delivery and document everything in the first 100 miles!

Ours had a scratch on the front bumper. Notated at delivery. Tesla repaired for free. Took about 90 minutes to repair. It was pretty painless
