Rear headrest after one day of car seat. Will it go back to normal?

tmluna01 | 2026-03-13 21:17 | 14 views

This happened on a new Model Y. The car seat was placed higher against the headrest for only a day. I lowered it and noticed a minor dent on the lower right side. I didn't think much of it, since I thought I'd rebound, but it's been like two days.

Nope! Ours has a permanent indent from the mirror strap. Trying not to stress too much. Just a car.

As someone who has had car seats of various types and sizes in his Y since 2022 -- my experience is that it does goes back to normal, even after being installed for months without removal.

I removed mine and will put it back when the car seat is no longer required.

Interesting timing! My wife just messaged me about a crease line in our passenger seat and we’ve had ours for a little under 2 weeks (also white seats). I’m not really too bothered about it however, I do have a service scheduled for the seat cooling fan to be looked at on Monday. If you leave this post up, I’ll comment and lyk what they say about it and whether the fan thing is a common problem or not 🤙🏽

You can fix this with heat pretty easily. Mine actually went away on their own but I don't use cabin over heat protection and my car gets to like 140 degrees in it sometimes

Heat will bring it back. You can GENTLY use a hairdryer or heat gun to pop it back into shape

Makes sense. Thanks

It will. Had the same in our Tesla. It takes some time but the crease will go away. Heat helps.

Came to say this. Every car I remove the rest for the car seat

Just wait till the kids grow up. When you remove the car seat, you will see it imprint into the leather. I used to care a lot and now I have accepted that's just the collateral from having kids.

Why don’t you use the cabinet overheat protection?

autopilot6236 2026-03-14 00:40

Use a heat gun Edit: carefully cut as a heat gun. Keep distance. Steady passes. Let it cool. Pass again.

Perhaps start with a basic hairdryer.

MurkyTrainer7953 2026-03-14 02:39

Sorry OP, it’ll be like that forever. Silver lining is sometime later when you eventually stain the white seats, no one will notice the indentation anymore.

I don't like my bread to get cold in the cabinet lol

Candylicker0469 2026-03-14 03:40

It’s Tesla, it’s all normal.

I'm going to pretend it's from how powerful the launches are in your Tesla.

SnooKiwis6943 2026-03-14 05:56

Totaled.

hauscal 2026-03-14 06:40

Nah. I had the best luck simply setting fire to the entire car.

Try using a hot damp towel
