You're screwed.

tanowak 2026-03-13 04:07

Lol, same happened to me in Boston. Literally 1 week, fucking shit turnpike. At least you can patch this location!

HotepYoda 2026-03-13 04:20

Best case scenario for patch

WildSamurai69 2026-03-13 04:21

Yeah luckily it was only $20 and could get it patched by my work

Mazindaman 2026-03-13 04:22

Same thing happened to me lol.Literally 2 weeks in

Excellent post. Thanks for sharing.

c_c_c__combobreaker 2026-03-13 04:32

Lucked out.

Prize-Regret-5764 2026-03-13 04:41

That’s bad luck!

LightxDarkness93 2026-03-13 04:41

Tire repairs are free at America's tire

Litig8or53 2026-03-13 04:46

😀

WildSamurai69 2026-03-13 04:47

I don't have one of those where I live, there's a discount tire that I think does tire repair free but I woulda had to drive like 30 mins back home and where I work there was a Walmart right next to my work. They had a puck to lift and everything luckily so I didn't mind paying $20.

WildSamurai69 2026-03-13 04:50

At least it wasn't a cracked windshield or something, I'm also in Tornado Alley so I'm trying to garage it anytime there's a hail risk lately 🤣

CummyMonkey420 2026-03-13 04:54

Why wouldn't you go to America's Tires and get it patched for free

Left_Load3973 2026-03-13 04:54

Same thing happened to me except it was literally the day they installed the home charger in my garage.

Zebraitis 2026-03-13 04:57

Just had this resently happen to me at mile 4,000. Easy fix, plugged it myself, with a kit from Walmart. Cost was about $8. Worst part was the 21" tires weigh a lot! Where you have that is the best case of a bad situation.

jjj44200 2026-03-13 05:00

Builders or the tire shop owners ?

WildSamurai69 2026-03-13 05:04

🤣 I am loving it though, me and my wife are both driving it. I have a older work truck for when I need I'm thinking about selling it and getting a used model 3 with low miles, maybe a performance. This model y is perfect though.

WildSamurai69 2026-03-13 05:10

Yeah I'm definitely buying a tire repair kit to keep in the trunk just in case for the future

Zebraitis 2026-03-13 05:16

I just picked up this jack and lug wrench kit: https://a.co/d/02Yvaws5 For $26, makes sense, even having AAA.

Brexxie 2026-03-13 05:16

Patch it it could have been too close to the sidewalls

WildSamurai69 2026-03-13 05:19

For sure, also don't live close to any service centers.

idealerror 2026-03-13 05:23

Last time I had a patch fixed at America's Tire, they put the tire on backwards

pigeon30 2026-03-13 05:35

Weird, must be some sort of conspiracy. Exact same piece of hardware got me too 😂 [culprit’s picture](https://imgur.com/a/cA74Yl9)

DeathBlade94 2026-03-13 05:49

When I took delivery of my 24 MYP I got a bolt just like inside 500 miles on the odo. Thankfully discount tire did a free patch.

MackShack12 2026-03-13 05:53

Same screw got my back left tire this morning!! 😭 thankfully a tire shop patched it for free

Deep_Stick8786 2026-03-13 05:59

Wait what?

WildSamurai69 2026-03-13 06:01

🤣

idealerror 2026-03-13 06:03

They put the tire back on the wheel in the wrong direction. There was literally a giant rubber badge on the side of the tire that says "INSIDE" yet they still had it back on the car mounted with the tire on backwards.

pigeon30 2026-03-13 06:06

Yup back left tire too! Smack dab right in the middle. Luckily I had a tire plug kit in my trunk, and it worked for like a couple days, but the hole was way too large (look at the thickness of that bolt lol) so the plug eventually failed. Hindsight is 20/20 but I probably should have taken it to the tire shop for a professional patch job after plugging it on the side of the road. This was the plug kit I used. Really handy in a pinch. Probably could have been a permanent solution had the hole been a tiny bit smaller. [plug kit](https://www.homedepot.com/p/203349942)

fratzba 2026-03-13 06:44

You got a 1 month tire and windshield warranty agreement trial when you bought it, so it’s literally no big deal.

WildSamurai69 2026-03-13 06:58

I got it used with 11k miles

jasonc123456 2026-03-13 08:08

yep they install it backward for me as well but thats like 4 years ago thats why I always double check everything before leaving.

tvbi 2026-03-13 08:18

Quite dangerous to drive with a screw in your tire for 2 weeks.

boonwin_ 2026-03-13 08:20

You people are lucky not to have Autobahn here you can't patch it because high speeds would not work. Been there done that, no workshop wanted to touch that thing.

Kooter37 2026-03-13 10:28

Easy patch, it sucks to deal with. But it could be worse.

Earthsiege 2026-03-13 11:14

I've had this happen to me 3 times in the past 4 years. The tire guy joked that there must be a large magnet in the wheels to cause this. Unfortunately for me, each time it was in the area on the tire that is unpatchable.

brdude 2026-03-13 11:37

Happened to me the same day I bought the car: https://reddit.com/r/TeslaModelY/comments/y2sa4k/myp_picked_up_my_brand_new_tesla_today_30miles/ Unfortunately mine wasn’t in a spot sale to patch.

HoppyDave 2026-03-13 11:49

Seems the stock Pirelli tires are nail magnets. Have had 2 flats in a year.

SnooKiwis6943 2026-03-13 12:49

I had a staple total my factory pilot sport tire in the first six months of ownership. Had to pay $620 for a replacement. tire as the staple was an inch from the edge the tire. You're lucky as that screw looks bad but is actually patchable.

FlacidFalcon 2026-03-13 12:51

Had this same bolt/washer combo on my wheel. Tesla wheel/tire insurance gave me a loaner wheel, then replaced the tire with a BRAND NEW wheel for $25. 100% worth the monthly payment to me for peace of mind.

PintSizeMe 2026-03-13 13:40

How fast do you get up to on the Autobahn? I've done 200kmh in my M3 with a repaired tire.

Metakad 2026-03-13 13:54

For sure someone put it there when you drove away

awraynor 2026-03-13 14:23

Same thing happened to me, but no issues since then.

Rifter0876 2026-03-13 14:27

This is why I have a jack, stand, and plug kit in the car. And a impact to remove the wheel. I'd plug it and call it a day. Unless it's a slow leak then I'd drive to a tire shop and get it patched. Patches are better than plugs but both will get the job done.

Unfair_Tonight_9797 2026-03-13 14:30

You don’t even need an impact to remove the wheel. A standard wrench works

clipse270 2026-03-13 14:33

And I thought I was crazy putting two in one tire

Beneficial_Bid2536 2026-03-13 14:38

Bro just count your blessings. I got 2 in less than a week.

sterpdawg 2026-03-13 14:53

Looks like a Las Vegas nail haha

Slayerz00m 2026-03-13 14:53

No Speed Limit on Autobahn doesn't mean you go.at 200mph The law still says that it has to be a safe speed for the conditions

S4vingRyan-sPr1v8 2026-03-13 15:26

Crazzzzy!!! Man, hope u're taken care of

KevinDohertyy 2026-03-13 15:32

i had at least 10 nails within my first year with 1 blow out

Better_Peak_3208 2026-03-13 15:34

This happened to me lol had my 2026 Tesla model Y for like 3 months now, hit a pothole 3 weeks ago and got home with a completely flat tire. There was a huge gash in the side wall and had to buy a $500 tire 😅

Coolerthanyou0723 2026-03-13 15:38

Same thing happened to me when I first got mine

LifelineHealing 2026-03-13 16:53

I got a screw after having my model Y launch for less than three weeks, but I had been gifted a tire warranty so I was not charged a dime. Was the best gift ever lol

Feisty_Crab7052 2026-03-13 17:06

Never had an issue w a plug and takes 3 min.

Lund855 2026-03-13 17:16

Nailed it

Omg that cheapest, tire discount charges us 65

tomtendo 2026-03-13 19:04

Not a big deal... Tire Discount (and others) will repair it for free... take a breath and calm down

twoOh1337 2026-03-13 19:22

No you can go also 300 miles per hour nobody is going to stop you 🙂

Slayerz00m 2026-03-13 19:27

Have you ever been there? Sure, you can hit 300 km/h, but the second you stay in the left lane for one kilometer after passing someone, the Polizei will pull you over and fine you on the spot. I’ve seen them do it

jeff77k 2026-03-13 19:30

A lot of tire places patch for free.

Always_working_hardd 2026-03-13 19:37

Nice. I've plugged a lot of tires over the years. I'm surprised the reddit tire police haven't been screaming at you from the balcony.

Shot-Trust7640 2026-03-13 19:50

Don’t get why people post these types of pictures. Ran over a nail. Doesn’t anybody care?

CantFstopme 2026-03-13 19:55

I swear there’s magnets in the tires…

AdOk4386 2026-03-13 20:14

Used a plug kit. Ezy peazy

Dry_Situation_3582 2026-03-13 20:34

At least you only have to replace 1 tire!

Dry_Situation_3582 2026-03-13 20:35

I love America's Tires!

kumarbi_knasher 2026-03-13 20:53

Why do I see and have seen this same nail/bolt on numerous flats. Have to be these construction crews you see in the roads all the time.

rwhe83 2026-03-13 22:33

This is why road hazard policies were made…

NHarvey3DK 2026-03-13 22:33

You got the car two weeks ago? If so, 30 day tire warranty still active

Hopeful-Lab-238 2026-03-13 23:38

Just wait til it chips and starts to have alignment issues. You’re gonna be devastated.

Andy_miami 2026-03-13 23:54

Another couple of weeks, and it will wear off completely.

Rifter0876 2026-03-14 00:03

I know but a mid torque ridgid 1/2 inch is small enough it fits in my tire repair kit and powerful enough so why not. I drive a EV so there is no wrench, or jack, or spare, in the vehicle stock, just a bottle of tire sealant and a tow hook.

OnlytheWinds- 2026-03-14 00:19

[Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago lol](https://imgur.com/a/47tBGeV)

Puzzleheaded-Bank630 2026-03-14 01:06

Les Schwab will fix ir for free.

MangoAtrocity 2026-03-14 01:49

I swear these things are nail magnets. We had two punctures in our first 10k miles.

AntiqueBeat1459 2026-03-14 03:52

They were just trying to save your white walls

Pixeus 2026-03-14 05:12

Assuming you have a 2026 MY, did it show you a tire pressure warning at all?

WildSamurai69 2026-03-14 05:20

It's a 2024 model Y LR AWD, didn't show any warnings don't think it was leaking much at all but I could hear a clicking sound when driving so checked it luckily.

NecessaryInternet603 2026-03-14 12:18

Yesterday morning I was waiting in a turn lane and looked out at the median where a 2"x2" information sign pole had been replaced. The four original hold down bolts that had been cut off as well as some other debris were laying around the newly installed pole just waiting for some degenerate to kick them out in the lane. I suppose road and parking lot debris is probably area dependent but this really bothered me - enough to relate it here. I've added casual glances at my tires now as I approach the car just as a habit. I also find myself manually checking the tire pressures using the screen more often simply because it is just an easy two swipes to the left on the small entertainment interface on the lower left screen.

OrderFlowsTrader 2026-03-14 14:26

Have never seen America's Tires in NY metro area.

rogerfeinstein 2026-03-14 15:01

Crazy I had legit, 100% the exact same thing in the same exact spot 300 miles into my new Y. Was glad I signed up for the wheel and tire protection subscription Tesla offers when I bought the car. The Tesla shop replaced that tire for free and in under an hour.

Bickenchutt05 2026-03-14 15:06

Just…Why?!

satanforaday 2026-03-14 15:13

Still got time to sign up for the tire warranty.

SodomyBear 2026-03-14 15:44

Just tighten it every 250 miles and you’ll be fine

stopsucking 2026-03-14 16:02

This is how Tesla secures the tires to the rim.

Leyvaman-MX 2026-03-14 16:12

Teslas seem to be flat-tire magnets…happened on all of ours (Y, 3 and X)😑

SGTShizzle 2026-03-14 16:28

Oh I’ve worn the heads off of screws and left them lol

taintedtint 2026-03-15 04:03

Day after I got mine fsd drove me straight over a pot hole and popped my tire. Thank god for wheel insurance

Flashy_Distance4639 2026-03-15 05:57

I had a nail going thru, similar spot. Remove that tire and brought it to Wheel Works who remove the nail (or screw??), then plugged in the hole in a very professional method. The tech showed me what kind of rubber plug he used. Would be difficult for me to patch the hole using the patch kit I had.

boonwin_ 2026-03-15 08:41

Nonsense. Absolute utter nonsense! I go 200+ on the left lane for 100km every day. And the police will do nothing if there is no speed limit.

boonwin_ 2026-03-15 08:42

I have myp so 255 km/h

Normal-Raspberry9892 2026-03-15 15:12

I thought I had a bad being in Arizona with all these trucks... and I commute an hour to work each way four days a week ... I've had three broken windshields but tornado alley wins every time 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Normal-Raspberry9892 2026-03-15 15:15

FSD and tire warranty gang gang 😊🌺 🤣🤣🤣

SimilarComfortable69 2026-03-15 18:01

I had a nail in my tire on day two. I win.

Routine-Tea1168 2026-03-16 02:10

Yes, found a screw with a washer I guess in my driveway. Had to come off the car somehow. Very strange. I wonder if it has something to do with transport and it gets left in the frame until it comes loose somehow. 🔩
