Looking to Buy a Tesla Model Y for FSD

Pri279909 | 2026-03-13 01:31 | 7 views

Have always been a nervous driver. And was thoroughly impressed by FSD on a recent test drive on a Tesla Model Y (2026). Is it worth it? Should I try to get a new one or is FSD equally good on (recent) pre owned vehicles, like Model Y 2023 -2025. Located in the Bay Area, California.

It is 💯% worth it.

Definitely worth. If FSD is important to you, your own choice is Tesla anyway and Model Y 2026 is the best one to get right now for a normal car.

FSD works well, might be some scenarios where you have to take over and should remain tentative. So it won't entirely replace you driving, but when I sub for FSD I use it 99% of the time. At the moment for me, the latest version the speed profiles are a mess. If you don't care for any of that, it's still a great idea to get. Expect it to rise over $99 a month in the future though.

Can you help me understand speed profiles plzz? Completely new to this! I appreciate it, tx!!

Plenty of documentation is out there, and watch a few videos regarding the corresponding FSD version.

And ask Grok to explain the different profiles.

You can find used Teslas where the original owner purchased FSD for the life of the vehicle. That's what I did. Otherwise if you buy a new one, you are stuck with a $99 monthly fee for FSD. It takes a while to find one, because most non-Tesla dealers don't even know if the vehicle has FSD included. The stats I've seen say only 8.9% of Teslas on the road have purchased FSD. It took me more than a month to find mine.

left is slow, right is fast. car go too slow, move profile closer to mad max. car go too fast, move towards sloth.
