Tint pricing

Cornelius_Hoggelfart | 2026-03-12 16:12 | 6 views

I got a quote for $500 Xpel XR to tint my entire model Y(excluding roof) from my local shop. Is that a good deal in the Atlanta area for anyone who has their car tinted? Other quotes were $700+ for Suntek and $450 for just the front windows and windshield.

$500 is cheap. I would double check that that shop is currently still 'approved' by Xpel. And do NOT tint the front windshield.

BigOWereCuddles 2026-03-12 16:40

From windshield and 2 front windows, $400 llunar IXR ceramic

tech01x 2026-03-12 16:47

I would recommend doing the roof.

Kappokaako02 2026-03-12 17:31

500 is extremely cheap, i paid around 1200 with my roof and windshield a couple years ago

StephanPNguyen 2026-03-12 18:04

I paid $500

fratzba 2026-03-12 18:17

The new MY’s already have UV protection on the roof glass

tech01x 2026-03-12 18:56

Yes… but I still recommend it.

Cornelius_Hoggelfart 2026-03-12 19:37

I have sun shade so I’m not too worried about that. And the factory tint on them is good enough for me personally

Chief7064 2026-03-12 19:49

Cheaper than I paid. Assuming you are including the front windshield.

LightxDarkness93 2026-03-12 22:04

Thats cheap for everything except the roof

Ok-Following4811 2026-03-13 02:37

$500 is pretty good for the whole thing. Tint on windshield is a gamble though. I’ve gotten 2 replacements in 4 months from rock chips. I got just sides done for $200 nanoceramic

LateMouse2020 2026-03-13 02:38

That’s cheap

fratzba 2026-03-13 03:15

You paying?

808_GhostRider 2026-03-13 08:12

XR Black or XR Plus? Even for XR black that’s really cheap. That’s surprising as xpel and tesla have a contract with the shop that has a fixed price the shop is contractually obligated to follow. This shop is clearly violating that which tells me they cut corners. I bet they bait and switch you with a cheaper film that also sorta has the blue hue; theirs several out there that I wont mention because scammers be scamming. $500 is to good to be true, huge red flag imho, I’d go elsewhere

D1TAC 2026-03-13 13:03

Good price. I did XPEL for all the windows, windshield was about $750.

Hustlean 2026-03-13 14:34

That’s not bad

Hustlean 2026-03-13 14:35

Is there a tint where there is not dark but still repels the sun heat ? It’s like clear from the inside ?

kokobunji0550 2026-03-13 19:55

Cheaper than what I paid mine was 700 without windshield or roof

Cornelius_Hoggelfart 2026-03-14 02:01

My last model Y windshield wasn’t tinted but my legs and arms were getting absolutely cooked in the summer so decided I’ll get some clear ceramic to cut down on that.

Cornelius_Hoggelfart 2026-03-14 02:03

70% ceramic is basically clear and repels heat

Cornelius_Hoggelfart 2026-03-14 02:05

It’s a xpel certified installer, I’ve done a car with them in the past and so there is a price adjustment since I came back.

Ok-Following4811 2026-03-14 03:26

Yeah on the sides it’s def a must and it looks good. Offers good heat rejection too

mookfangers 2026-03-14 03:48

I was quoted $450 from 2 places for front windows and windshield. I ended up paying $280 for 95% heat rejection tint. Working great.

808_GhostRider 2026-03-14 05:01

Okay. I’m not attacking you. Just informing you that all xpel installers have a contractual obligation to a certain price on Teslas. Imho that’s price fixing and I thought that was illegal since it’s only Teslas. Just be careful. Xpel xr black for $500 is a bit cheap so maybe your right, if it’s xpel xr plus, I’d never go back there

Cornelius_Hoggelfart 2026-03-14 20:24

I understand. It’s not xr plus, it’s one step under - XR black. The quote for xr plus was a lot higher so I chose xr black instead.

ethiopian_kid 2026-03-15 22:24

well you got scammed lmao… i’ve paid in the 3’s for my car

Kappokaako02 2026-03-15 22:25

I mean i could have picked the $300 garbage tint. Congrats buddy.

ethiopian_kid 2026-03-15 22:29

it’s all marketing my guy… you can pay $1,200 for nano xpel xdr ceramic carbon pro or you can pay $400 for tint. promise you on all my cars the tint held up, it blocked heat and looked good. so many products they are constantly finding ways to squeeze margins, there’s no excessive r&d leading into tint breakthroughs justifying higher and higher costs lol

Kappokaako02 2026-03-15 22:30

Thanks for the business lesson Ethiopian kid

ethiopian_kid 2026-03-15 22:31
