Transfer homelink from 2021 my to 2026 juniper?

Arzemna | 2026-03-12 12:39 | 2 views

Has anyone successfully installed the homelink from an older model y to the juniper. I have a 2026 on order and want to transfer the home link if it’s compatible

I scanned the QR code and it linked without installing anything else. Not sure if this is going to be a monthly fee through MyQ 🤷🏻‍♀️

I just got my 2027 Model Y and it replaced a 2022 Model Y. The delivery folks said the homelink was nit transferable.

Thought about doing this from my 2023 M3 to Juniper. Videos and posts prior about sucesses but none I saw were for Juniper. Just had them install another HomeLink instead. Eventually also bought tiny keychain style remote for a different reason and for much less. If I did it over again, I'd just have done that and velcroed it.

I had a 2021 Y and just got a 2026 juniper. I opened up the 2021 Y to get the homelink adapter, went to final steps and found the homelink adapter screwed into a bracket and the only way for me to unscrew it was to take off the front bumper. I said screw it I don't have time for that shit and wasn't too keen on figuring out installing it on the new one and just paid $350 for the tech to come out to install the new one. It's possibble to do if you have the time to take off the bumper off both cars. That time, to me, is worth more than the $350.

I have the MyQ app on my phone and it's free to open/close the garage door from anywhere. My understanding was that using the car's built-in MyQ app required a subscription. Not really sure I understand why since I already have it for free but I guess they need to make money from it. I just took a regular door opener and clipped it on the inside of the driver's door cubby. No way I'm paying $350 for a Homelink. It's just a garage door opener.

It was free in my M3 (as was premium connectivity, probably because homelink came installed). Still working out everything with our MY.

Yeah, my understanding is that it used to be standard in the cars. For some reason (well... greed), they took it out and now sell it as a $350 add-on. Screw that!! I'll go old school with the regular door opener. And if that fails, I'll go even older school and just get out of my car and pull the door open by hand!!

I was the same, but for my early 2021 MYLR, you only had to remove the frunk liner to install. Still, it wasn’t worth the hassle for a $50k car, and I paid Tesla to do it.

I just installed a new HomeLink adapter on my 2026 Y and found the same thing you did, lol I couldn't mount the thing because I needed to take the bumper off to get the screw in. So instead, I took a ziptie and fed it through the screw hole and homelink adapter, tightened it up, cut off the excess, and called it good lol

I replaced my 2021 Y with a 2026 Juniper. I was able to remove the home link module from the 2021 and install in the juniper. Removing the frunk liner is easy. I did not have to remove the bumper. It’s a little tricky, but took less than a half hour.

Thanks. That is the plan now.

They lied to you. I transferred mine from MY LR AWD 2022 to 2026 Juniper
