Tire consistently low

brooklynjinx | 2026-03-12 03:30 | 6 views

My front right tire gradually loses air pressure to where I will put air in to 42 psi, then after a week it’s down to low 30s. I have been refilling it on a weekly basis for at least a year. Can a hole in the tire really leak this gradual without it going flat? I had a friend tell me her front right tire always gets low too. Wondering if this is a common thing. Also, is Tesla the best place to get tires replaced?

go to any tire store and ask them to patch the leak

You have a leak somewhere. It could be in the tread or sidewall of the tire, between the wheel and the tire, the valve stem, a cracked wheel, etc. You can use soapy water to find the leak. It could be a simple fix like snugging down the valve core or valve stem, or it could require a whole new wheel. You won’t know until you figure out where the leak is.

It’s called….. a slow leak. You’re welcome

First car? Discount tire is usually closer and cheaper than Tesla

A couple PSI is normal during temperature changes. If you’re losing 10+ PSI a week, you obviously have a leak somewhere.

Discount tire. It could be the tire, valve stem, or rim. They’ll be able to tell.

Go to an honest tire shop. You probably have something like a nail or screw in the tire causing a slow leak. Have them show you where the leak is if they claim it needs replacement. Tesla doesn't patch tires...they'll offer to replace it for you. If the leak isn't on/near the sidewall it is a small charge to get it patched.

easiest & cheapest potential fix: check the Valve Stem. Tighten if loose. If you don't have one, you can get a valve stem tool pretty cheap.

Happens all the time that there’s a subreddit for it. r/myteslahaslowtirepressureprobablyusererrorbutistillwanttocomplainaboutit

OP is different, they are losing 10+ PSI every week

DuckTalesLOL 2026-03-12 15:33

1 PSI and 10+ PSI aren’t the same… lol

Yes. Go to America tires to get it fix. When i came back from vacation last week, my tires were at 17 PSI. Took it in and turn out there was a screw in it.

Must be their 1st car....love they have TPMS but ignore the continued low PSI warning. Cars are getting smarter ... humans are not

I had the same. Got a nail in a different tire and took it to a tire place and asked if they could take a look at my slow leaking tire too. They fixed both tires for free. My slow leaking tire was patched before I bought the car.
