What size and what wheels?

Danneman76 2026-03-11 18:58

Cool. I like it 👌🏼👌🏼

GoldBodybuilder4932 2026-03-11 19:00

Tesla 18" Aero Wheels taken from my Model 3 255/55/18 All Terrain Tires (this is the biggest you can go with no rubbing on stock suspension) 20mm Wheel Spacers

GoldBodybuilder4932 2026-03-11 19:04

Forgot to mention the spacers are not needed. I just added for a wider look.

Figwit_ 2026-03-11 19:16

Fucking fierce. I love 18s. I also love those pre-refresh Model Ys.

Ammmy2 2026-03-11 19:22

Wish I could get some 18s here in the UK, looks great

iceynyo 2026-03-11 19:27

Why can you not get 18s there?

Ammmy2 2026-03-11 19:32

I think lack of demand maybe? Everyone iv spoken to has told me the smallest you can go on Y is 19… which I know obviously isn’t true! Only option iv been able to find is importing some in but then it’s costing me double after shipping and taxes

rohmaru 2026-03-11 19:38

how's the noise?

Topgun127 2026-03-11 19:42

I’m all for larger sidewalls for a better ride and less possibility of potholes busting tires, but why AT’s? Seems like they would be less efficient and loud.

Blurrysnake164 2026-03-11 19:46

Went with 235/60/18 myself.

GamerInfinity1996 2026-03-11 19:52

Screw the noise, I am curious about the huge hit in range. Just why

Dr-Goochy 2026-03-11 19:56

Yes, have you seen how cool they look?

Strifel 2026-03-11 20:00

looks awesome, but best get some mud flaps, that paint be chipped in no time!

Informal-Oven-1412 2026-03-11 20:01

where'd you buy them?

VinshinTee 2026-03-11 20:14

What spacers did you et? They look awesome.

VinshinTee 2026-03-11 20:16

Not everyone that gets an EV cares about the range. There's also the convenience factor, power torque and smooth factor. That being said, the range probably dropped by 20%. Thats how much i loss on y hybrid.

LemonChiffon831 2026-03-11 20:28

Looks super cool!! I would double check on the load rating- if the Model 3 you took the wheels from is pre-2021, the load rating’s 700kg which is less than what is required for Model Ys (min. 750kg)

halfageplus7 2026-03-11 21:51

I think there would be a good size market for a hybrid on road/off road tire with an aggressive look. Right now I am on Firestone Destination LE3 and they look like they belong on a Camry.

halfageplus7 2026-03-11 21:52

If OP cared about range, they wouldnt be driving with the roof racks on.

GamerInfinity1996 2026-03-11 21:54

If OP cared about range, he would not be driving this car to begin with lol. My juniper launch is amazing but the range really leaves a lot to be desired.

ifitsmeanttobe 2026-03-11 21:55

Purrrrrdy + I agree with mud flaps

GoldBodybuilder4932 2026-03-11 22:38

AMAZON - Heres the link https://a.co/d/0dJYNAz6

caldeio 2026-03-11 22:38

Yeah what's the range like? I have at on my 06 explorer. We look at a model y recently and decide to get a better one. But it is very interesting!! The tires are amazing in ohio winters

GoldBodybuilder4932 2026-03-11 22:42

Surprisingly quiet (not as quiet as stock). I was afraid of this buying the most inexpensive tires I could find online.

GoldBodybuilder4932 2026-03-11 22:43

Still testing this. We'll see how bad or good it turns out to be. I'll keep you posted.

GoldBodybuilder4932 2026-03-11 22:44

I honestly done care about the range it's all just preference at this point. But I agree with you haha

GoldBodybuilder4932 2026-03-11 22:44

Yeah looking into it now

GoldBodybuilder4932 2026-03-11 22:44

Agreed!!! Looking into it

GoldBodybuilder4932 2026-03-11 22:46

Agreed. It's all just preference. Using this as my camping/outdoors vehicle. Still have the Model 3 to take on my road trips.

Single-Use-Again 2026-03-11 22:57

Honestly I haven't even noticed a 1% difference with the roof rack on vs off. And my daily commute used to be 132 miles per day.

HIZLO 2026-03-11 23:05

It looks fantastic! You did a good job.

GoldBodybuilder4932 2026-03-11 23:18

Still testing this out. I'm sure there's going to be a drop. Just not sure what that is right now. Keep you posted.

it_is_raining_now 2026-03-12 02:47

To each their own

start3ch 2026-03-12 07:11

Are you gonna add a lift kit?

Krysiingen 2026-03-12 12:13

people that have 21 inch performance wheels also do this swap and they gain 8-12% more range lol

Krysiingen 2026-03-12 12:14

stock suspension you say the performance model y legacy has a lowered suspension right? what would the tire sizes be for that one, do you have any idea?

spin_kick 2026-03-12 14:29

You are gonna need a ton of validation here to feel good about that look

spin_kick 2026-03-12 14:29

And trucknutz

Original-Definition2 2026-03-12 14:53

the new Tesla low cost ('standard') comes with 18's that said don't assume any 18 will fit Warning on 18s: yes you get better ride but have to accept less road noise, longer tire wear, less change of damage and must live with longer range

matrix_5562 2026-03-12 16:02

Looks classy definately complimenting the body colour

Lukeman269 2026-03-12 17:01

How's the ride quality? I'm considering getting some 18" wheels on 235/55 size tires coming from stock 19" wheels/tires.

Bcoool1 2026-03-12 19:15

Nice color. Love the beefier tires wheels look great 👍🏻

stadce071012 2026-03-12 21:35

How exactly does a 320/350 mile range leave a lot to be desired? That’s over 200 miles per day charging to 80% including a safety margin.

smileandsilence 2026-03-12 23:15

From another Model Y owner that goes camping often, those tires look damn great. Also thinking about switching to 18s. I don't get the fuss with people not liking another person's mods. Everyone has different tastes and needs

Radiant-Original3956 2026-03-13 17:09

I did the exact same setup on mine and got hit with 5% less. Not as drastic as people may think. MYP 2020

VinshinTee 2026-03-13 20:04

I mean, people who are asking will care since theyre penny pinching their range.

LogObjective2412 2026-03-14 16:35

I went with forged 18x8.5 rims from Atomic Wheels and the same size 255/55/18 ice-x for Chicago winters, I get the same or slightly better winter range than summer range with the 21” uberturbines…

LogObjective2412 2026-03-14 16:40

For the MYP with 18” rims you can go 245/55 or 255/55, the first will be a hair smaller diameter than stock tires on a 21” uberturbine, the second is about 1/4” larger diameter and _just_ fits.

Krysiingen 2026-03-14 16:44

I just talked with the Tesla service center and they told me I have to respect the document EC CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY that I received with my car and there’s only 21 inch and 20 inch so 18 inches is not listed. I mean technically I can run 18 inches but Tesla can refuse any suspension issues drivetrain issues if I have it later on I live in Belgium with a lot of potholes so I don’t wanna risk my suspension or drivetrain. I would rather change my wheels that I’m gonna buy. I’m good. I think I’m gonna go 20 inch with the maximum possible tire. Uberturbine: 1: 1636 mm 2: 1636 mm : Axle 1: 255/35R21, 98W - 21x9.5J 40mm of f set - C1 Class C Axle 2: 275/35R21, 103W - 21x10.5J 48mm of f set - C1 Class C Optional tire: Axle 1 and 2: 255/40R20 101W - 20 x 9.5J 45mm

tulax21 2026-03-15 21:55

Only came here to say it looks great! Would agree with everyone here about the mud flaps and maybe some PPF near the wheels. How do they feel at higher speeds and turns?
