Is there a way to enable this on 2026 Model Y?

itzabhinavs | 2026-03-11 17:23 | 2 views

Looking to see if anyone has used any self hosted software like Home Assistant or TeslaMate to enable this on 2026 Model Y? Not looking to pay to enable this feature. Any ideas are appreciated. Thank you!

How would that be possible on a Model Y? It doesn’t have the motor to open or close the door.

I use this on an ESP32 with home assistant, I mainly use it to automate charging based on electricity price and to have alexa warm up the tesla lol. I have a model y so can’t say for sure about the door though. https://github.com/PedroKTFC/esphome-tesla-ble

I assume it’s only available on the X since it actually has doors that can open and close by themselves. Other Tesla vehicles can only “pop” the drivers door open (shortcut in the actual app)

Is this a joke?

And what is your endgame here? At what situation do you want to open the door? Tesla Y can pop-open the door for you, but not like model X all the way. And there is no way to close that door from app.

I’m not looking for it open like the X, just unlatch the door when I’m approaching so that I don’t have to do the push first to pull the handle

To clarify I’m looking for the door to pop upon approach while I’m at work and home. They have this function inside the app so wondering if anyone figured a way to make it work based on other triggers

You don’t say any of that in your post though.

I tested this, there is a function to unlatch the driver door and it does work. You could do a shortcut with this and home assistant.

Thanks a ton for checking. I will look into this 🙏
