You should probably talk to your wife. If you had to ppf it would come from Tesla like that. But your finances are between you and your wife. She will be there for you when random redditors never will.

It’s a personal decision, it also depends on the colour because some colours will look absolutely horrendous after a couple years of rocks slamming the front end On a car with full PPF I had two rocks break through the film and scratch deep through the paint. In other instances I have watched minor door dings that would’ve for sure marked an unprotected door go by like nothing happened I would just PPF the front end and rockers

>is you MUST PPF  Where'd you get that info?

You can search PPC on here. Lot of folks say only the front. Lot of folks don’t recommend it at all.

There is no consensus. Do what you want, it's your car. I did full PPF, but probably should have just done the front. I also DIY'd, so didn't spend $5-7k, more like $1200. I also did DIY tint for $160.

If you are the sort of person who will be bothered by rock chips then PPF can be worthwhile, but I think you are paying way too much. I just did the front end and rocker panels and it was <$1000. You can do the paint correction and ceramic yourself for <$250 (clay bar, iron remover, cheap polisher and polish) and a half day of your time. Home ceramic polishes don't last quite as long as commercial, but you can also easily upkeep. My personal opinion is that the polishing step is mostly worth it for deeper colors and if you are going to avoid mechanical car washes. There are tons of YouTube videos on this. Alternatively, you can protect your paint the old fashioned way with wax sealant. These days there are a bunch of products that incorporate ceramic tech to make them longer lasting. I use these products to maintain my ceramic coating and it is still going strong 3 years out.

PPF IS NOT REQUIRED and neither is ceramic. They might be nice to have but to spend 10+% of the value of the car for these things is ridiculous in my opinion.

Just do the PPF. The next owner will appreciate it. 😂

Used car buyers. Let this suckers buy new cars fomo and pay for the PPF.

YouKidsGetOffMyYard 2026-03-11 17:22

MUST PPF? Who have you been listening to? (maybe the guy selling PPF installations). PPF is nice but it rarely makes financial sense. If you really do want PPF, just get the front bumper and hood done that is where 95% of your rock chips are going to be.

Ppf is useless and a waste of money. These cars lose value far to fast. They aren't trophy cars you'll be fine.

It's a trend that's ridiculous. Only idiots/ weird people PPF the entire car. Front bumper I could see. I own two Tesla's and haven't done any of that to either. Hybrid spray wax only. Have a few minor rock chips in one of the bumpers. But nothing worth even $100 in my opinion. Don't do it.

BestSpatula 2026-03-11 22:13

No. PPF is extremely expensive and does not wear nicely. If you're really worried, just get the front bumper, rocker panels, etc where there are more likely to be rocks.

Thanks i'm of the same opinion 👍🏼
