Careful, there is a guy in here that HATES colored calipers!!

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 07:22

Haha thanks for the heads up! But who cares what he thinks 🤣

Inside_Equivalent197 2026-03-11 07:36

Man I hate colored calipers

RitzyIsHere 2026-03-11 07:49

Do the 18s feel significantly different than 19s?

808_GhostRider 2026-03-11 08:59

Please tell me your 18” setup. I’ve been itching to ditch my 19” for some extra sidewall comfort. Tesla told me they could put the model Y standard wheels on but that they’d be skinnier, no clue if thats a good or bad thing. Help educate me pretty please

SUPER-NIINTENDO 2026-03-11 09:02

😂

PrizeMeans 2026-03-11 10:07

Lol wtf is that fake crap you aren’t fooling anyone. Those aren’t Brembos ☠️

Positive_League_5534 2026-03-11 12:47

I do too! I just took my calipers off completely. Sure...stopping is a problem, but think of the extra acceleration from the reduced weight. Yes, I'm kidding...I hope you enjoy the look of your vehicle.

NefariousnessFair362 2026-03-11 13:02

Teeing yourself up for 🔥

Schnitzhole 2026-03-11 13:53

Man I hate colors

Schnitzhole 2026-03-11 13:54

Tesla has Brembos on many of their cars and performance line for the 3

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 14:00

Hahahahahahaha do your research

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 14:01

Why?

Intelligent_Rub7502 2026-03-11 14:04

What exactly did you do? Put a brembo sticker?

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 14:10

Yup, put a brembo sticker on the brembo calipers

PrizeMeans 2026-03-11 14:11

This is a non-performance Model Y.

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 14:11

It's noticeably more comfortable on rough surfaces, and I feel like the car is a bit quicker to accelerate. This combo shaves some unsprung weight from the car

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 14:14

These are Apex EC-7 in 18x9.5 with 255/55/18 Toyos. I'm very happy with this setup. Not sure of the offset. Got them off a guy who ran them on a Model 3 Performance. I'd wouldn't go to skinnier wheels, since you'd give up grip if so

Schnitzhole 2026-03-11 14:21

Regardless, it seems crazy to be upset about people modding their cars 😂

RitzyIsHere 2026-03-11 14:22

Definitely would go 18s once this set of tires are done.

Igotnonamebruh42 2026-03-11 15:05

The fronts are Brembos, do your research

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 15:43

Non performance model y and long range both have brembos lol

icy1007 2026-03-11 16:13

No they aren’t. lol

dnguyen823 2026-03-11 16:14

lol not even the juniper.

Top_Brilliant_5708 2026-03-11 16:30

Honest question. Are caliper covers mostly cosmetic or is there a real benefit to the life of the vehicle? New Tesla owner here so just looking for feedback without trying to sound ignorant

Godrillax 2026-03-11 17:14

Did your kWh/mile increase or decrease? And by how much?

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 17:15

What's your source?

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 17:21

Here's my source https://zevcentric.com/blogs/zevcentric-news/model-y-performance-brakes-are-now-the-same-as-the-long-range-y-teardown?srsltid=AfmBOorWqggKWRvbz1afX1ac8l3yWVtJtWZNYJRd82U5b3QWy9eA3Oh3 Where's yours?

Powers5580 2026-03-11 17:36

Looks like my ride in GT7

turahvr13 2026-03-11 18:01

Are those the rear ones he put the sticker on?

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 18:08

Mine are on the front

turahvr13 2026-03-11 18:08

I know. The guy sent an article that the rears aren’t brembo.

icy1007 2026-03-11 18:47

The fact that they aren’t Brembo brakes… Tesla makes their own brakes.

icy1007 2026-03-11 18:48

Those aren’t Brembo brakes. He’s assuming.

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 18:49

Did you see the link I posted? They source brembo calipers....

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 18:49

See my link.

quentech 2026-03-11 19:00

18's are pretty tall rubber on these heavy, low C.O.G. cars imho. I think you get most of the benefit from moving away from 20's or 21's with just 19's and those look better than 18's on these cars and don't have such tall sidewalls to roll over. Just my opinion. Forged wheels don't weigh much different between 18's & 19's either.

Igotnonamebruh42 2026-03-11 19:13

Yes they are. Go look at the front brake itself, it has BREMBO embossing on it.

icy1007 2026-03-11 19:26

I saw the link. Those aren’t Brembo brakes.

icy1007 2026-03-11 19:26

Already saw your link.

icy1007 2026-03-11 19:27

It has a Brembo sticker on it…

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 19:29

well crap, i guess this must be a knockoff caliper then https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/y4EAAeSw5Ehpl5YL/s-l1600.webp

Igotnonamebruh42 2026-03-11 19:30

It seems like you don’t understand what an embossing is…it’s not a sticker buddy. I wish I can attach an image of my front brakes so you can stop arguing

icy1007 2026-03-11 19:31

Yep

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 19:31

apparently a lot of people don't know this... so i'm posting it here, in case my other link gets buried https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/y4EAAeSw5Ehpl5YL/s-l1600.webp here's the listing link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/197986988881?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-166974-028196-7&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=197986988881&targetid=2275367127251&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9032183&poi=&campaignid=21236583115&mkgroupid=170101764148&rlsatarget=pla-2275367127251&abcId=9409930&merchantid=101647358&geoid=9032183&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21236583115&gbraid=0AAAAAD_QDh8XM-WFul-U-YoErpi8arW9e&gclid=CjwKCAjwpcTNBhA5EiwAdO1S9rFmlf8mUHb-ISsqHujwiuoyqRUr1eKrvcSwBrBcFajX_gy0KKMfOhoCq7sQAvD_BwE that's a picture of a caliper from a seller on ebay. Some, if not all, Model Ys (first gen), do in fact have brembo calipers.

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 19:32

k

jmwelch73 2026-03-11 19:36

Man, I hate stuff that isn't super drab and depressing.

dragonzsoul 2026-03-11 19:53

lol i showed him a picture of the embossing.. he refuses to believe it

Igotnonamebruh42 2026-03-12 00:31

Cosmetics and it’s no real benefit for your brakes. Either leave it as it or paint it

DabbyBear 2026-03-12 01:56

Honestly the best move you can make with people like that is to just block him and move on. It takes a while but the internet becomes far more enjoyable when you just refuse to interact with people like that.

lIIllIllIlIIlIIIllIl 2026-03-13 16:06

So i checked the manufacture website and the rims are load rated for little over 700kgs. if you search for specific rims for model y they offer ones that are 950kgs. I would feel more comfortable if it was 800-950 for the model y. sometimes i like to haul garden soil and bricks in the in back lol. Please make sure you dont over load your car...divide by the 2 axle loads 700kgs is under the 814kgs required.

Clean_Technician_656 2026-03-13 17:54

Where did you buy the stickers from? I was thinking of doing the same, but in black. Thx

dragonzsoul 2026-03-13 17:56

got them from Etsy, from a shop called "stickershop954" not sure if links are allowed or not.

NefariousnessFair362 2026-03-14 15:34

Watch and see …

dragonzsoul 2026-03-14 15:47

Eh, I saw the uneducated people not realizing the stock calipers are from brembo.
