Purchased 2 Model Y's 2023 Model - Help with FSD

Hi Everyone, Was fortunate enough to buy 2 Y Tesla's today, both 2023's. 1 is the Performance (HW4) and one is the Long Range (HW3) My question is the Performance when I go to upgrades it shows me the FSD subscription and the connectivity option. On the Long Range one when I go to the bottom of the screen under Upgrades, it shows Upgrades Unavailable - No Upgrades are available to purchase from the vehicle at this time. Check on your Tesla app. (Retry) Has any encountered this? My phone app is not yet setup since I just uploaded the documents, waiting for the old owner to approve the transfer. So currently using the Key Card for now. Hoping he/she gets the email and transfers/approves it. Anyway do you think its part of that? Once its transferred I will be able to see the upgrades or is it a hardware issue? I do have the HW3 on that, isn't it compatible with the FSD? So new to all of this and learning as I go. Thank you everyone.

Could it be that the HW3 car already has FSD purchased?

How would you know? I tried to do it. It’s just the one where it drives straight and it didn’t turn or anything

You need to be setup as the vehicle owner in the Tesla app first

Yes! I’m hoping it’s this, actually doing it now so hoping the other person checks their email

HW3 will run FSD, but every time I engaged it, I thought to myself, ok, how is it going to try and unalive me this time? Ok, so it wasn’t quite that bad, but I did have to disengage it quite a bit. You should be able to see the FSD status in the Tesla on the screen. Just note that “capability” just means that the hardware is there, and not the FSD software.

Yeah I just sent in the request. It's funny because on my Performance one, I sent in the request around 2pm PST and around 2:05pm PST (5 minutes) the old owner responded to the email / request, I got it then. The Long Range, I just sent it around 8:45pm PST, its now 9:05pm PST, so hopefully by the A.M. they see the email or notification on their APP if they still have a Tesla. Once that is done I will update this thread to see if that was the issue.

Settings > Autopilot. You’ll see the first setting there should be a toggle between modes.
