Test drove the new model Y juniper premium and the seats feel really stiff. What are your impressions on it?

I agree but id rather sit in a car that drives me rather than one that doesn't.

Seats break in after a few months!

About the only thing I prefer in the 2020MY I own are the seats, everything else in the Juniper is better Having said that, I did not find the seats uncomfortable, just not as cushy as mine

Model X seats are even more stiff. I have AWD LR Premium MY and I think the seats are much better than the X

After six months and 3,000 miles on the 2026 Model Y Juniper, the front seats remain stiff. It’s due to the ventilated seats feature.

Due to the ventilated seats. That’s how it has to be other wise the ventilation layer would collapse

I recently purchased MY Juniper AWD 2026 and noticed Similar issues with seats. Coming from a M3 performance 2022, so I’m used to a rougher ride I suppose so wasn’t a bother to me really compared to how much car you get for the price.. it’s no surprise Junipers top of the charts going strong into the new year ! Couldn’t have made a better purchase for my vehicle, but that said the seats are lacking in the quality department more than comfort, but still needs enhancements on both qualities especially since it’s considered top tier in its field of EV mid size SUV. I say all that to say this: I went to Tesla and felt the performance seats for myself.. It’s a level up for sure ! Got quoted 1,900 for new seat, and currently trying to figure out schematics.. like will it void warranty when altered bc bolting is different so it’s not a swap more of a custom job so Tesla won’t touch it. Also what would labor cost 3rd party.. I would’ve just got performance to begin with but coming from my last M3 performance I want to focus on comfort rather than speed on the family car plus the years of basketball haven’t been kind on my back lol anyway not a poster, but wanted to share sum insight lmk thoughts opinions and ideas team

I'm not seeing that. We went from 2019 model 3 to the Juniper last July. The seats do not break in. I would give up the ventilated seats to have the seats we had in the 3.

Seats are on the firm side. The fixed headrests (yeah yeah head restraints) are angled too far forward.

I love the seats, but I am just over 5’ tall and 120lbs. The sides may be too tight if you are larger and the sides aren’t heated, so ca feel cold if your body touches that part. The front head rest is uncomfortable for taller people too, based on feedback from my passengers. For me, it’s an ideal seat and they are great even for long road trips.

I’ve heard a lot of people say they are stiffer than the seats in the legacy version. However, having driven to Juniper a few times now I cannot say I agree. Perhaps they are a little bit stiffer, but not enough that I find them less comfortable.

The ventilation is worth it for me. I’ll never go back to not having ventilated seats

I think it’s because of the ventilation. I’ll be honest, I prefer the stiffness, with my chronic pain it’s actually more comfortable for me sitting long periods of time as I feel more supported. But I can see it being uncomfortable for others. In my 2023 MY I actually found those seats less comfortable.

The seats are firm, yet they are very comfortable over extended periods of time.

I feel like that's more common with ventilated seeds. No matter how much they try to soften them the truth is that there has to be a way to get cold air up your butt, and it's going to come thru the seats, there's no way they're going to be a soft as a normal unventilated cushion seat.

Firm seats mean they will last longer and give more support for cornering. I prefer them this way as a tall guy who tends to bottom out cushy seat padding pretty fast.

What kind of diet you on?

Yeah I’m using a back cushion on my seats after a year because the cushioning is no longer as soft when I first got it. The lumbar area and bottom seat has definitely stiffened after 12K miles. I have the black seats and they definitely do not become softer over time. (I’m below average body weight as well).

I went from a 2019 rav4 limited hybrid (with their fake leather seats) to the juniper premium. The seats feel pretty much the same. The stiffness is more with the ride and suspension (which I love). Having the centre of gravity so much lower compared to the rav4 allows for much more spirited driving. No regrets with my switch from the rav4.

I came from a Tahoe, where the seats were very plush, but didn’t have ventilation. The juniper seats are definitely more firm, but I almost immediately adapted to them and the ventilation is a life saver - especially if you’re in a hot climate. I don’t know if they break-in over time, but I don’t think of them as firm now.

Seats are firm, but last thing my back wants on a drive is something you sink into. I've learned to love the support the MY seats provide great support especially on long drives. After driving a Model Y for 6 months a Rav would be a huge step down IMO. Not something I would remotely consider.

The seats are just ok standard seats. I find I can sit for some time without getting any uncomfortable issues at least.

Not too stiff, but they are too short for the thighs. Needs extension for any longer distance travel
