Starlink mini on dashboard
Have anyone tried to use Starlink installed on the dashboard inside the Model Y Juniper model. Apparently tinted roof glass doesn’t work well. But windshield is not tinted.

What about the rear window?
I have mine pointed up through the roof glass above the backseats. I have a 21 MY, so it doesn’t have the new glass, and it works great. Before I did that, I did test it on my dash and it did work, but when I was driving in the direction away from the satellites, it would drop constantly.
Was it laying flat on dashboard or affixed to the windshield pointing forward?
Have used the Starlink on the dash just fine.
Can you please tell me the mount you have used to hold it in place?
I used it on the dash without any mount and it sometimes fall while on the move. I eventually ended up mounting it in the rear window using the Spigen mount. Works well, because you can unlatch and remove it from the mount if you need to. Brought it to long drives along California highways and it’s been great!
I just laid it flat up there, not fixed into place, just testing it.
I use this mount with some rubber coated heavy magnets. It doesn't slide around the dash at all. [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F3DHKFN2?ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_fed\_asin\_title&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F3DHKFN2?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1)
Is this on the Juniper Model Y? Because this revision has darker tinted windows, and other claim tint has some metal in it that blocks a signal.
Yes, it is on the 2026 Model Y Juniper. It is the glass roof that has the metal composition that blocks the signal that’s why I mounted it in the rear window.
Are you saying that rear window does not have the same metal composition like the glass roof and you get a strong signal?
Yes, and I get strong signal. Try it for yourself.
