Burning through Tires!

krisantihypocrisy | 2026-03-08 00:31 | 47 views

On my third set of tires. Getting an average 20k per set. My model y is my main commute car and close to 60 -70 miles per day. Primarily on fsd and even though these tires have a 50k mile warranty, have been unable to get any warranty coverage due to “teslas burn tires” and “camber alignment”. Two shops have now said that - Costco and discount tires. I read about a post mod - camber arms. But before I start moving down that direction, is everyone else getting the same from their tires? Car is a standard model y rwd.

If your car is aligned then unless they can show abuse they have to honor the warranty. Teslas don't burn tires...drivers burn tires.

PtrJung 2026-03-08 00:34

Are you getting even wear? If not, have you had an alignment?

KilroyKSmith 2026-03-08 00:36

I’ve got 16,000 miles on my Y, my tires will last at least twice that. On my 2018 3 RWD, they lasted less than 20,000 miles, but that’s because I romped on the accelerator A LOT and giggled like a school girl when i did.  The second set of tires lasted 45,000 miles. What does the wear look like on the tires?  Is it all on the inside shoulder?

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 00:37

No alignment issues. No other issues except within 5k miles it’s burned through 20% of the tread. (From 10 to 8). The Costco guy just said “camber alignment of Tesla” makes warranty a suspect…

Hot-Praline7204 2026-03-08 00:38

We replaced our OEM tires (Michelin pilots) on our 2022 MYP like 6 months ago at around 62,000 miles. Either you have a heavy foot, alignment issues, or you’re buying cheap tires

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 00:38

Even wear but a lot of wear. In 5k miles from 10 to 8 on the rear and to 7 at the front…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 00:38

Wear looks even. Basically all 8s in the back and 7s in the front. 5k miles 😞…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 00:40

2 sets of continentals (original + discount tires) and one set of the Bridgestone (Costco). Driving primarily fsd. Thanks for letting me know you get 60k. At least now I know!!!

Positive_League_5534 2026-03-08 00:40

Tell Costco guy to show you where on the warranty Teslas are not included.

shocontinental 2026-03-08 00:41

I’m at 54k miles on the original tires that came with my 23 LR AWD. Planning to replace them around 60k. 20” Goodyear tires, originally 8/32” tread now showing 5/32.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 00:41

That’s a good idea. I spoke with their supervisor and that’s the guy who said that. Is there a written document I should be using???

Stogies_n_Stonks 2026-03-08 00:41

We’re at 56k miles on the original tires and I’m due for a set. Been diligent about rotate/balance every 7500mi and only drive like a dick once in a while

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 00:43

Thanks! Mine is primarily fsd and due kids max + 10% above speed limit within the city. I am at a loss right now. It’s two tire stores and three pairs. I first thought it was alignment. But not the case…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 00:44

Wow! I am jealous! Mine went from 10 32 to 8 32 at 5k miles!!!

lankyevilme 2026-03-08 00:45

We got 60k miles out of the original tires on our '23 model Y.

bcbuddy 2026-03-08 00:45

Are you driving in chill mode?

MichaelMeier112 2026-03-08 00:46

We got 32k on the OEM but would have gotten more if we had aligned the wheels

globesdustbin 2026-03-08 00:48

Do you rotate?

sku-mar-gop 2026-03-08 00:54

I am on my first replacement set from discount tires and went with oem brand for our 23 MY. Original set only lasted around 22k miles and discount tires guy blames it on stop and go city driving which we do the most. The second set seems to going to last the same due to same issues. My wife enjoys how quick she is able to start from a red light but I think that’s the price you pay.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 00:55

Yes, every 5k miles

Md37793 2026-03-08 00:55

Can tell that all these people getting insane range numbers on their tires do t live in western PA. I’m at 37k on car and about to replace my 5th tire..plus a full set. So many flats

DoctorStrangeMD 2026-03-08 00:55

This need to drive chill mode. The acceleration is so fast it eats up the tires.

null640 2026-03-08 01:00

Try chill mode.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:10

I am very mileage conscious, so chill mode and fad on hurry / standard. Lifetime wh/mi at 245 right now. Really scratching my head…

thomasbihn 2026-03-08 01:10

I'm still on my original set from 2 years, 37k miles getting close at 4/32

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:11

Fml…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:11

Dfw here….

lookingforrest 2026-03-08 01:14

Is it because of adaptive braking?

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:15

Phew, misery loves company. I thought I was the odd one being punished by Tesla gods! I got the same excuses. Tesla torque etc etc…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:16

I lost my second foster due to an alignment issue. Will never make that mistake in my life again…

TowElectric 2026-03-08 01:16

I get plenty of life on my Model S. But I don't drive super hard. I tend to buy used tires with 70-80% tread life and I get 25k-35k+ miles on them.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:16

Yes, fsd at hurry / standard. Lifetime wh/mi at 245…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:17

I am jealous. Same model and 25k were my best tires…

DoctorStrangeMD 2026-03-08 01:18

Thanks Dad? I’m just agreeing with the person suggesting Chill mode. It’s easier to slow your accelerant with chill mode than standard. OP is having a problem and we are making a suggestion that may help. I’ll make sure not to hit any balls into your yard.

BlaineBMA 2026-03-08 01:20

We traded our 23MYLR in with 47k miles on the original tires I wonder about your driving style and what types of roads you are driving on!

fudgedebt 2026-03-08 01:20

I swear I hear DFW ears tires no matter what the car.

Positive_League_5534 2026-03-08 01:23

The warranty that came with the tires. You could also contact the tire manufacturer and/or Costco customer service

Octochops 2026-03-08 01:26

What HW version you on? I remember FSD on my HW3 would accelerate way too fast and brake way too fast. I would have burned through tires too had I kept it on.

newbie415 2026-03-08 01:26

Yeah this post doesn't add up lol. Costco denying mileage warranty is almost only from uneven tire wear. So either the insides are all chewed up from toe being out of spec and/or lack of tire rotations. Another possibility is OP has a lead foot. If the car is aligned and also driven gently like the claims, the tire will last. It's all physics.

ItsJRod 2026-03-08 01:27

User error

knownikko 2026-03-08 01:32

Buy some Michelins or Hankook ION EVOs designed for EVs. The OEM Contis are not great and Bridgestone doesn’t make anything I’d put on my car TBH.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:35

Ugh….

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:36

Sorry you mean regen???

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:37

Mine is primarily fsd driven - 90% plus at 245 wh/mi. I don’t think fsd drives too hard…

DrHumongous 2026-03-08 01:39

Chill mode. I get about 40k miles per set. It’s not the tires. It’s you.

Argyrus777 2026-03-08 01:39

All 4 tires worn the same rate or only rear one is wearing fast? Do you park with FSD also?

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:40

Ugh, Driving style - primary fsd within the city limit. Since it’s developing there are some bad roads. Lifetime wh/mi - 245. I am mileage conscious. So chill mode with fsd at hurry / standard. Have. Had two prior cars (Toyota Corolla and Camry),never had these issue…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:42

I plan to. Here are the “exceptions” to warranty, now two companies have said this to me: - alignment. I lost one set because of that, so very careful about it - “extreme tread ware” - Tesla camber - the nuke option to deny warranty apparently…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:42

Hw4, latest fsd - 14.2.2.5

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:43

That’s pretty much what Costco and discount tell me. I do drive primarily on fsd though…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:44

That’s my next bet. But if I am getting only 20k average I am thinking why spend higher..

Unfair_Tonight_9797 2026-03-08 01:45

I got 42k on the original. are you rotating and getting an alignment?

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:46

Yes. Every 5k miles. Wheel alignment - yes. Leant the hard way…

BlaineBMA 2026-03-08 01:49

Those roads must be tough When I lived in Vermont, I went through a lot of tires probably because some roads weren't paved

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:50

That is the consistent feedback I am getting. Primarily fsd driven with a 245 wh/mi. Trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. This is the first car I have had with such issues…

DrHumongous 2026-03-08 01:51

Can you use chill mode in fsd? Or is that not a thing?

BaySportsFan 2026-03-08 01:51

Mountain pass performance camber adjustment arms Then an alignment.

Unfair_Tonight_9797 2026-03-08 01:52

FSD drives like a teen.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:52

Oh it’s a thing, I never realized if fsd is hurry or standard it will burn through the tires. The performance mode is chill though..

Admirable-Poet-5981 2026-03-08 01:52

Tire warranties seem to rarely pay out.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:53

Alignment is done. I will look into those arms. I live in dfw though. If that matters…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:54

I really am at a loss right now. It’s like complex math with too many combinations. And all I do is fsd…

DrHumongous 2026-03-08 01:54

Chill mode is still the fastest car I’ve ever had, and I used to drive a WRX. Anything you can do to accelerate and decelerate slower will prolong your tire life.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:55

Front at 7s, rear at 8s. Even tread wear. Parking - mixed. I am gonna say 60% fsd, 40% me..

BaySportsFan 2026-03-08 01:55

You need to install the camber adjustable arms first then another alignment. The Model Y comes with negative camber that doesn't lend to getting miles out of tires. Also doesn't come with any camber adjustable arms so you need that first

BlaineBMA 2026-03-08 01:55

Have you spoken with a Tesla support person? I would stop by and speak with a service manager

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:56

Yeah, how much do those cost? I can’t spend 1k every year to replace tires 😢…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:57

Coincidentally I have my warranty end appointment in a few weeks. They are 💯 hearing from me…

madness707 2026-03-08 01:57

Are you rotating your tires twice a year? Honestly? I don’t recall if those are staggered or not. My dual motor got 38k on oem continentals rotating them, I drive pretty hard too. My hankook evo ion currently sitting on 20k still going strong, probably half the tread left so I’m hoping to get 35-40k. This is my commuter too and I don’t drive soft on turns either. Just gotta rotate it and check your camber, air it up. Also maybe slow down on take offs and turns if it’s eating it up that bad, but I don’t know your driving habit

BaySportsFan 2026-03-08 01:58

Pretty penny but they should make your tires last. What are your post alignment numbers now? Which part of the tires are wearing out first?

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:58

Yeah the rep tells me the car has high torque compared to all other evs…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:58

Yup, I expected Costco to be better. But here we are…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 01:59

lol. It’s not that bad for me…

Lazy_Championship528 2026-03-08 01:59

1. What trim of Model Y? 2. Are you getting EV tires?

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 02:01

I lost warranty on my second pair of tires because of an alignment issue. So that is now a fear instilled in me. Alignment was done immediately after these new tires went in - 5k miles before. I rotate every 5k miles as a habit. Driving habits- primarily fsd with a 245 wh/mi and very mileage conscious. I donno what else to say 😢…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 02:02

I only have tread ware with me right now. Front at 7 and rare at 8. Even tread ware. I am going for Another alignment check even though my previous alignment was 5k miles back with these new tires…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 02:03

1. 2023 model y std rwd trim 2. Yes, two continentals before, on the turanza right now…

Unfair_Tonight_9797 2026-03-08 02:10

What year? I drove a lot. Like I put about 30k a year. Ate through the first set after 18 months. Driving in FSD isn’t the best because your take offs are hard, and it does a lot of breaking. Like I said.. it’s like driving with a teen.

tinman20 2026-03-08 02:11

I’ve used a few sets in the 5 years we’ve had our car (130000km). I blame myself for the first couple of sets because the torque is sooo intoxicating!! It’s really hard not to drive like an asshole, but it’s really fun. I’ve had some replaced on warranty, you just need to keep up with your tire rotations to prevent uneven wear. My experience had been good for that part. I drive almost exclusively in chill mode these days to help control my carnal thoughts. Haha.

lookingforrest 2026-03-08 02:11

Yes sorry I meant regenerative braking

quovadist 2026-03-08 02:13

Does the fsd use the brakes often?

keaolyen 2026-03-08 02:13

As mentioned, check your alignment and ensure tire pressure is correct. I'm currently just over 25,000, miles on my 2024 model y and still have quite a bit of tread lift

knownikko 2026-03-08 02:20

Because you’ll get more miles, undoubtedly.

OChrome 2026-03-08 02:23

I’m at 35k and I suspect I’ll get maybe another 8k miles. At about 5mm right now and will replace before next winter. Wisconsin.

madness707 2026-03-08 02:24

Man that’s rough, what brand tire? Also try the hankook evo ion suv rated, these has been the best set so far for me, for these about 2 years ago when they first popped up in the EV scene, they should hopefully work well for you

Schnitzhole 2026-03-08 02:28

almost all major tire wear is from the first few seconds punching the gas and hard cornering. Try rolling on slowly before punching the gas and reducing acceleration in corners.

Eviltwin27 2026-03-08 02:29

Tesla stock tires went by 18K Costco tires 30 and still good

WizeAdz 2026-03-08 02:32

The point was that chill mode isn’t necessary. Controlling the car in sufficient. But, I suppose the OP can’t / won’t do that.

TheCarter1120 2026-03-08 02:38

82k miles and on my second set of tires.

escesr 2026-03-08 02:39

My Michelins on my performance lasted me 82,000 miles. It’s your alignment or you push your car hard often.

Aggressive-Act1816 2026-03-08 02:47

I have a 2022 model Y performance. I average 50,000 miles on the front tires and 38k on the rear. I don’t have FSD, but have tried it on a 30 day free trial basis, twice. I believe FSD is hard on tires. Lots of quick little turns to stay in lane, when a human would not drive in that manner. Also keep in mind that the Y performance has different size tires on the front and rear, so no tire rotation.

chubby464 2026-03-08 02:55

Which Michelins?

ForTheObviousReasons 2026-03-08 03:00

60k km per set. Rotating summer and winter wheels.

nimmy283 2026-03-08 03:15

I’m also on chill acceleration mode and hurry FSD only 25 model 3 RWD. I’m like 12k miles in on the car and looking at needing tires by like 20-25k. I also never floor it and only drive FSD

Otherwise-Fold-40 2026-03-08 03:20

I thought you didn’t need to rotate Model Y performance tires because you only can rotate them from left to right. Is that not right?

Alarmmy 2026-03-08 03:33

My OEM tires lasted 48k miles on my Model Y. I was lazy and did not rotate.

imthefrizzlefry 2026-03-08 03:35

This is a problem with your driving. I just had to replace my factory tires after 42,000 miles. It's not an EV problem, it's an aggressive driver problem.

escesr 2026-03-08 03:37

Pilot Sport All Season 4

TheTimeIsChow 2026-03-08 03:44

Every…5k miles??

SimpleMindHatter 2026-03-08 03:45

Get a lifetime wheel alignment from Firestone…if you own your Y.. I have a M3 standard that was eating the inner tires..you can get an alignment every 6 mos as long as you own your car…for $269… I believe.. good luck.

Firefighter_RN 2026-03-08 03:49

Chill mode at all times? I get 60k or so per set pretty consistently

jabnlab 2026-03-08 03:50

Definitely consider ev specific tires. Had over 50k miles on a set of Hancock Ion Evos on my 2020 Y before trading it in for an AWD Juniper, and they had atleast 10k miles left to go. I definitely plan on putting them on my Juniper once the stock contis wear out.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 03:52

I do have ev tires only. Turanza right now. I guess I have to look at other brands now…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 03:53

Chill is the performance mode, fsd is at hurry / standard. I guess I have to move down there as well…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 03:54

Firestone does not do lifetime on Ys. I learned that the hard way. They do have one for model 3…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 03:54

Yes, since my Corolla that’s my standard. Sometimes 6k. But normally within 5k…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 03:55

This is a consistent feedback I am receiving. Problem though is I am extremely mileage conscious and have a 245 wh/mo lifetime. And my primary drive is fsd. So planning to talk to Tesla support…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 03:56

Wth! Maaan you got lucky!!!!

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 03:56

Mine is standard. So not sure about performance…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 03:57

Oh wow! So even model 3 has this issue? Atleast you don’t have the camber problem. That’s a big loophole when it comes to warranty for the Y…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 03:57

That’s not bad at all. I wish I got that….

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 03:59

Alignment is good, car primarily fsd driven. So not sure whats happening and never had this issue with my previous cars. I am gonna talk to tesla…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 03:59

Thanks for letting me know!!!

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 04:00

I guess that’s my next one. Dang…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 04:00

Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 04:00

Yup, that’s at the standard factory setting…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 04:01

Ha, thanks for the feedback!!!

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 04:02

25k is my yearly average. It’s a 2023 Model Y. Because of the distance driven I actually bought by fsd at 8.5k. How fckd am I. Ugh…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 04:02

Depends. I would say normal…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 04:03

Do you know if fsd has better control there???

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 04:03

Aaargh. Congrats dude…

chandleya 2026-03-08 04:05

I made it to 42k on performance 21s. Zero rotations. Negative camber damage kind of unavoidable.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 04:06

Thanks! The negative camber is causing warranty to be voided. Has someone played that card with you???

kroepuk 2026-03-08 04:15

My oem conti pro Rx last around 57k. Currently on Michelin E primacy.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 04:17

Maan, my original came for 24k miles, the next 16k (had an alignment issue so no warranty), the current turanza tread is down to 8 with 5k miles. All this with car primarily on fsd…

DrSendy 2026-03-08 04:35

Got 60,000klm out of my first set.

Acrobatic-Camel5297 2026-03-08 04:37

75k on a set CC2s and still going. They’ve gotten super noisy but still have decent tread depth. LR AWD 3.

Rjeezyx 2026-03-08 04:49

I don’t know how there is so many replies in here but barely anybody talking about the real problem which is the tires that you bought. The turenza burn off in 20k and conti pro contact rx are the worst tires to ever be put on the car and also only last 20k so your right on point. The rest covered everything else but my man jump over to a hankook ion evo or if your up north get Michelin crossclimate 2 or dws06 plus and enjoy life. The tires you’ve chosen so far as the fastest wearing options possible. They sacrifice wear for all the other attributes.

LowPomegranate225 2026-03-08 04:59

The Tesla acceleration js way too harsh for tires to handle regularly IMO. I only use radar cruise and when a gap opens ahead, the car accelerates super aggressively and if it's doing this from a dead stop then I can see why your tires aren't lasting.

Longjumping_Rule383 2026-03-08 05:00

Buy better tired and turn on chill mode.

jhar02 2026-03-08 05:19

Yes, get some adjustable rear camber arms. UP or n2itive. I went with n2itive, great experience so far. Solved negative rear camber issue. I have 40,000 miles on a set post install with plenty of tread left. If you plan to keep the car a while and drive a lot, totally worth it.

jhar02 2026-03-08 05:23

They do. I have it on my Y. It might be a store specific policy. When I got my Y, only one Firestone near me offered it. Now all around me do. Call around.

Lokon19 2026-03-08 05:27

The only time I've seen Costco deny warranty is if you don't rotate your tires.

regmeyster 2026-03-08 05:35

You rotate tires on a performance? I hope its side to side

babehboi21 2026-03-08 05:36

You probably drive like we do. Our tires last about 30k miles at most and yes none of the places will warrant the tires for the rated miles for the Tesla Tax unfortunately. They will just say it's Tesla and you'll get that much even with EV tires. I hated the Turanza EV tires as my efficiency went to shits and went back to the continentals when I got my 3rd set of tires.

Stogies_n_Stonks 2026-03-08 05:36

No sorry I have AWD LR

regmeyster 2026-03-08 05:38

I have staggered set up on my performance and im getting way over 20k on my tires. I drive in chill mode 99% of the time.

TravelfF 2026-03-08 05:52

Bro! What've you done? My 3-year-old Model Y has 40K miles and its original tires still have very good deep treads.

boogi3woogie 2026-03-08 06:06

Chillll.

goingfourtheone 2026-03-08 06:06

Wouldn’t an alignment report address out of camber argument from tire vendors?

CJdawg_314 2026-03-08 06:48

Same. Threw my 3rd set on this summer. Coming up on 50k miles soon. I always run ps4 all seasons. Not the best wear but it’s a phenomenal street tire. It’s my fault and I know it lol.

Karma111isabitch 2026-03-08 07:03

DT gave me a $623 credit on my new tires cuz of warranty. On my 3rd set now at 70k mi

WilliamEIV 2026-03-08 07:27

Get your alignment check and try a set of cross climate 2. I had continentals extreme contacts that only lasted about 23k, threads were down to the wear marks with some uneven wear on the inside due to out of spec alignment. Discount tire still refunded almost half the cost since manufacturer warranty was 40k miles. I got cross climate 2s now, haven’t rotated tires since I got them put on, 25k miles later and still good thread. Also when I got new tires I got the car aligned, there’s still almost 1 degree of negative camber in the rear that’s within spec for Tesla, as long as it’s within spec the tire warranty should be honored. Try another discount tire.

rsg1234 2026-03-08 07:37

I drive pretty aggressively, but also 60-70 miles a day so mostly highway. 60% FSD lately but the miles have been mostly AP or manual. I am approaching 50k miles on my LR AWD Y and my tires are still good. I got a set of Model S tires up to 70k miles. Something is wrong with your alignment would be my guess.

rsg1234 2026-03-08 07:39

Must not have been an STI then. Chill mode is around 7.5 seconds 0-60 in the Y.

jmaddr 2026-03-08 09:19

What is the wear pattern? Bad camber will have extreme side wear while the other side is just fine. Pick a tire that is electric rated, T0/1/2 etc or equivalent is best if possible. They are Tesla specific so have much less variety and are more money but do last longer. But if your alignment is out, and that should be obvious based on your previous wear pattern, then this will not help.

DrHumongous 2026-03-08 12:16

Was not the STI. And I don’t actually know the specs, the WRX was still probably factually faster, I’m just saying that subjectively, chill mode still seems plenty fast for normal people. And get you an extra 10 to 20,000 miles on your tires then it’s worth it.

Positive_League_5534 2026-03-08 12:32

Can you list the tires you have purchased so we can look at the actual warranty? Tesla camber issues are usually with the Model S where they purposely set a negative camber and made it non-adjustable. The tires wear out badly on the inside because of that.

Doxifer 2026-03-08 12:32

I do max 15k per tyre set… chill mode but leaving in altitude

MrSnackR 2026-03-08 12:53

Check the tire companies info about their tires or the specific tire model. If I'm not mistaken, Michelins are rated for 55,000 miles.

mwhill2 2026-03-08 13:31

Many tires are <11mm new. You should get more life than 8k out of what is left.

OChrome 2026-03-08 13:35

You’re not wrong, but they will not perform well at 3 or 4mm in the snow. I’d rather keep the fam as safe as possible. I suspect I’ll drive 8k between now and Nov

BigBlackMagicWand 2026-03-08 13:57

First of all get your suspension checked for play and do a conplete alignment (not just toe adjust, overall adjust that not all places do apparently). And then buy something else than Continental or Bridgestone. Those two brands have the softest possible compounds and they wear out fast, great tires otherwise. I have a 20k driven set of studded winters and there's barely any wear on them. Summer tires were some old Falken studless winter tires with probably 50k on them and I just binned them last fall. Gonna buy the cheapest possible summer tires for upcoming summer.

mwhill2 2026-03-08 14:00

6mm =35,000 then conservatively 2mm will give you another 12,000 leaving 4mm. Surprised in Wisconsin you don’t have dedicated snow tires.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:03

I will know soon…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:05

One set of continental pros (discount tire), the current with Costco is Bridgestone Turanzas. And both Costco and Discount tires claim model y has a camber. Also fires stone said no to a permanent wheel alignment for my model y because of camber…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:07

Can you recommend a place that does the complete alignment? I am going to Tesla for end of warranty support soon. Ask them to do it? Also studded is the brand of tires? Sorry not clear with that…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:07

Bridgestone is 50k…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:08

I did have alignment issue with my second set of tires. And yes camber does cause inside wall in the rear to wear further…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:09

Alignment I can confirm are great. Otherwise would have uneven tread ware…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:11

The discount tire case - could not get warrant as there was an alignment issue. Costco - they are already prepping me with some “exceptions” Wheel alignment- got one with the new set of wheels 5k mile back. Planning to go check it again. I am sure that’s not the issue now because of even tread ware…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:12

Wow! What tires do you have???

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:13

I did speak and go to one in person and was told know. Got tires plus to do mine. I will check around…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:14

Thanks! How much was the total price of you don’t mind me knowing? And did Tesla do this for you???

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:15

I am getting a lot of stats with folks having wheels giving them more than 40k miles for sure. It’s clear lesser miles are not the standard. Ugh…

jhar02 2026-03-08 14:17

3rd party ev shop in my area. Contact n2itive, they may have a list of authorized installers. My install was 2 or 3 years ago. At the time, n2itive was about $800 (parts, labor and alignment), UP was $1200 ish

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:17

Ah another finding the wild. You get the same excuses eh? I am not able to easily accept it’s my driving style as I use fsd max and yes I hate the mileage on the turanza. In fact my previous post on this forum was bitchng about that lol!!!

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:17

Thank you!!!!

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:20

Thanks!!!

eSUP80 2026-03-08 14:30

Are you seeing even tire wear from inside to outside edges? Are the rear tires wearing faster? More details

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:41

Even tread ware (rear - 8/8/8/8 and front - 7/7/7/7) per Costco report. It is wearing out fast though. Just 5k miles from 10 to 8…

Positive_League_5534 2026-03-08 14:45

Are your tires worn unevenly? Our '25 Y has completely even wear, and we have 21,000 miles on our Continental Tires. Plenty of life left in them.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 14:46

Even tread ware. I would love to be in your scenario…

rsg1234 2026-03-08 15:16

And you’re getting them rotated regularly I assume.

rsg1234 2026-03-08 15:20

I tried chill mode in my wife’s MYP (for the tires but mostly to prevent the battery from normal pre-conditioning that happens in P models) and the first time I struggled to merge onto a highway I switched it off and have never used it in any Tesla I drive. But if it works for you that’s great.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 15:42

Yes…

DammatBeevis666 2026-03-08 15:49

Can’t adjust camber

rdubmu 2026-03-08 15:52

My original tires lasted 9k miles, then I switched to Michelin, getting about 30k miles out of these

newbie415 2026-03-08 16:03

What's camber have to do with anything lol

Substantial_Lie_9604 2026-03-08 16:03

Where do you get your toes rotated

npoetsch 2026-03-08 16:05

Unless you're 100% diligent about rotations, alignments, etc. the warranty doesn't mean all that much

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 16:15

Thanks, did you see a mileage drop??

rdubmu 2026-03-08 16:24

No, they are the same size

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 16:26

I saw a 10% drop when I went from continental to Bridgestone…

Sociological_Earth 2026-03-08 16:26

I’m almost at 20k miles on my current set of tires and they still look new. Guy who rotates my tires also says they’re wearing so evenly I can go about 15k+ miles between rotations. I do keep the car on chill acceleration, though.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 16:31

Chill in fsd or chill in performance mode???

Sociological_Earth 2026-03-08 16:38

Performance

-Woogity- 2026-03-08 16:43

I just had my model 3 tires replaced at 30k miles through Discount. With 20k miles being prorated because of the 50k warranty. Hankook ION EVO AS is what I went with. I drive *significantly* more aggressively than you seem to drive.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 16:59

That’s what I have. Fsd is at hurry / standard…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 16:59

I use fsd most of my drive. So it’s basically how well fsd drives for me…

Stogies_n_Stonks 2026-03-08 17:18

The podiatrist, but I go to Costco for tire rotations

DammatBeevis666 2026-03-08 17:42

Inner shoulder of tire handles most of the load 99% of the time. Thus, inner tire wear in rear eats your tires. Especially with regen. Edited: this-> thus typo

dkdurcan 2026-03-08 17:55

I dunno what you are doing. Maybe not regularly checking the air pressure, or drive like a maniac. My 2020 model 3, just hit 60k miles. Changed all tires once at 45k. Set your car to Chill mode to decrease the rate of acceleration to see if that improves things.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 18:02

I also donno what I am doing. my lifetime wh/mi is 245 and I am very mileage conscious. Some more info - primarily fsd driven with chill performance mode. Pressure and wheel rotation on time - ie 5k miles. I did mess with wheel alignment with my second set and got back no warranty. Learnt that the hard way. Got alignment when I changed it to Bridgestone. 5k miles back. The tread ware this time is even…

FreedomToCreate 2026-03-08 18:15

You are a extreme anomaly. Tires on the performance cars in the average case last 30k miles and that's what they are designed for. Unless you are driving very slowing in chill mold, more 'expensive' tires won't make a difference

Nice-Necessary-1547 2026-03-08 18:17

Model 3 long range. 2 sets in around 70000 kms.

SwanProfessional1527 2026-03-08 18:18

Same setup. I will see the steel belts at 40k

newbie415 2026-03-08 18:28

Ohhhhh is that right? So confident yet so wrong lmfao.

babehboi21 2026-03-08 18:45

Well you're using fsd max like hurry? Or mad max? But I will say I get an alignment every rotation and that's roughly 5-6k since owning. My friend bought same time but drives much slower and not as aggressive was able to last 50-60k on his. I again do believe speed and aggressive driving will definitely wear tires ou faster EV or not. FSD does come off the line pretty fast or any stop position so can't assume that fsd isn't as aggressive I suppose if we think the computer will help us save tires

Schnitzhole 2026-03-08 18:47

FSD on chill or standard definitely drives smoother and would have less tire wear and also use less range than any human driver from my experience.

babehboi21 2026-03-08 18:47

I'd be curious the correlation between how efficient one drives to tire life... Like we average like 290 Wh/mi with continentals. Do your numbers look similar to ours? Because I know my friend's numbers tend to be less than ours For reference we have 22 MYLR 82k miles now

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 18:47

Fsd - hurry / standard. Mad max is rare as I want mileage. Alignment- planning to check again. Got previous one with the new wheels - 5k miles before. But here is the thing - this has never been a problem with my prior cars. I am learning through this thread that fsd is not better…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 18:48

That’s what I thought. I am on chill with fsd on standard / hurry. But I am learning differently…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 18:49

245 for me 😬

babehboi21 2026-03-08 18:54

Honestly we don't think about the tires anymore after our 3rd set. Just enjoy the drive and the ability to quickly get up to speed or overtake folks. If you're on hurry you're definitely letting fsd drive more aggressively. We use only hurry and don't have 14 yet...

babehboi21 2026-03-08 18:55

Is that total or just on this current set? We reset our tire sets each change but keep one trip meter for since purchase. I also run teslamate in the background.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 18:56

I thought if mileage is good then my speed is as well. My only intent now is to not lose the warranty…

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 18:57

245 life. It was 241 when I had my continentals. Putting Bridgestone made it worse- it’s 245 right now…

babehboi21 2026-03-08 19:11

slightly off topic but does anyone know if FSD respects your acceleration profile? My thoughts maybe it doesn't care and it's on standard acceleration and maybe this would account for the quicker wear.

DammatBeevis666 2026-03-08 19:33

I’m sure you’ve got articles or physics to show how camber doesn’t affect tire wear? I’m definitely NOT saying toe isn’t more important, it is. But toe is easily adjusted.

chickgirl444 2026-03-08 19:52

I got a little over 15 K on my first set of tires and I'm still working on my second set. I damn well better get more than that on these.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 19:56

Lemme know how it goes!!!

newbie415 2026-03-08 20:11

Camber affects tire wear but it's got no place in this discussion. you bringing it in like some gotcha is pointless and adds no value. 1) OP claims tire wear is even across the tire, that eliminates camber being a problem. Camber is fixed for everyone right? You said it, not adjustable. 2) again like you had mentioned, camber is not adjustable on these cars. Vast majority of owners in chill mode can break 40k miles even with some rowdy driving mixed in. Leading to my original point, I believe OP has a lead foot and is merely denying it. Or toe is scrubbing his tires. And if camber is somehow the issue, why doesn't every single car across the board experience it since this is fixed from the factory? 3) unless this particular car is running a track alignment with over 3.5 degrees of negative camber, theres no reason the inner shoulders will wear significantly faster. Stock camber spec is at -1 degree +/- (again like you said is fixed for everyone) and -1 degree is also common for many cars on the road for general handling and stability properties. So there's no reason CAMBER is the issue here unless all the other cars on -1 degree also experience accelerated tire wear. 4) vehicle load is NOT mostly on the inner tread block due to the OEM camber spec, do you think the stock 1 degree negative camber tilts the wheel that much? 5) take a read through race car vehicle dynamics by milliken if you want to learn about suspension geometry and it's effects on the tire in terms of grip and wear. It's more valuable than any Google article you'll come across aside from motoiq write ups.

Substantial_Lie_9604 2026-03-08 20:27

Too bad they don’t do toes, yet.

Billymaysdealer 2026-03-08 21:10

Chill mode

Legal-Square-1362 2026-03-08 21:42

No need to rotate. Save yon the hassle in the future.

booboothechicken 2026-03-08 22:01

That’s what I thought, but at least at Costco, I argued with the tire center manager that told me warranty only covers defects in the tire, not normal wear and tear.

DammatBeevis666 2026-03-08 22:03

I appreciate your thoughtful reply. I didn’t see that OP’s tires were evenly worn, was that in the post? I guess I assumed wear was uneven. ETA: my wife’s Y has -2 degree left camber and wore the tire down to the belt before the other tire showed much wear at all.

electrified_ice 2026-03-08 22:51

I thought EVs were cheaper? There's more cost to a car than just the price of gas vs. electricity. Instant torque + higher performance + heavier vehicle = tire shredding. Lucky you don't have an R1S... 3 seconds to 60 for a 7,000+ lbs vehicle eats tires way faster than this.

Positive_League_5534 2026-03-08 23:00

If there is a mile warranty on the tire getting less than that is covered. It'll be prorated, but it's still something.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 23:23

If I don’t do that, warranty excuse waiting to happen …

jaylenz 2026-03-08 23:24

Same exact situation, I got to 33k on michelin but I was breaking wires. They said if I do the camber arm mod then they would honor warranty. Tires are a small fee for the everyday convenience

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 23:26

Naah EVs are definitely more expensive. What you save in gas and monthly maintenance - you eat it via insurance, tires, taxes on the car etc. Right now the only reason I still love my car is because- fsd. It’s a real difference for me…

booboothechicken 2026-03-08 23:26

Please tell that to Costco. You’re preaching to the choir.

Legal-Square-1362 2026-03-08 23:27

You are still getting 1/2 of warranty if you are not rotating. 25k instead of 50k. But in any case, it’s a pointless exercise. You are not saving much, if any, with rotating tires in a Tesla. The time and effort spent on it are just not worth it.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-08 23:28

I am getting varied answers on this. Some are claiming warranty is provided. I am getting what you are saying - no warranty due to camber…

JT-Av8or 2026-03-09 02:21

FSD is hard on tires I think. I drive myself most of the time and I get around 45,000 miles out of my tires (2020 model 3 and Y are only on their second set since new).

right164 2026-03-09 03:59

I wldnt say 20k is burning thru! Try Pirelli tires! Now THERE is a burn thru every 8-10k

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-09 04:00

wtf! Are you being serious???

Melchizedek_Inquires 2026-03-09 04:55

Original tires, MYLR, I replaced tires at 35k miles because they were not ice rated, they were still good, now with Michelin CC2's at 25k miles they were essentially new per my tire shop, lots of wet road driving though.

Seriously_2Exhausted 2026-03-09 10:27

I get new tires every year, but I drive about 40k miles a year.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-09 12:30

That’s still better. I do half and still replace every year…

Seriously_2Exhausted 2026-03-09 12:41

I've just gone to the cheap Lexani VoltEC EV tires from Walmart 500 bucks a set installed on my 19 inch rims they're louder but other than that I've notices no negatives even in snow.

chandleya 2026-03-09 13:08

Negative camber wear isn’t a warranty problem. The tire didn’t fail, the installation failed the tire.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-09 13:32

Well this is the second tire place I am hearing camber is a warranty problem. I literally had the tire supervisor say that. Next time I am going to get it in writing…

als7798 2026-03-09 14:10

What type of driving primarily? I primarily drive highway and I got 27k out of my OEM Goodyears. I don’t think I’ve really floored it a single time. I drive on chill mode. I think the braking is getting me worse than anything. Switched to DWS06+ … interested to see how the next set holds up.

Original-Definition2 2026-03-09 14:15

I have 2024 MY base model. Drive gentle rotate, in chill mode.  Even wear.  I will need tires at 25k I live in AZ super hot seems lije other MY drivers in AZ shorter life

chandleya 2026-03-09 14:43

Remember the Tire Store doesn't actually perform any warranties, they're merely the installer of someone else's warranty. Camber wear cannot be warrantied against a tire, you're literally deliberately only using less than 100% of the contact patch. It's just physics. They didnt make a super thick inner edge of the tire because that wouldn't make sense. The nerds that deliberately put 5% of negative camber on their Toyota GT86 cars can't claim tire warranties either. Warranties are for workmanship issues, like tires that fall apart, blow out under normal pressure, or have some other craftsmanship issues. Not premature wear, you did that.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-09 14:45

I do understand that, the costco supervisor explained that really well to me. Once we found no alignment issues, I asked if you will pro rate warranty and that’s when he opened up about model y camber setup and how that could void warranty. I am talk to Tesla next week and getting the official answer…

Stogies_n_Stonks 2026-03-09 16:28

Mix of highway and brutal city streets. Honestly surprised the tires lasted this long. I think I’m gonna try to source a set of Michelin CC2’s but they’re out of stock locally.

chandleya 2026-03-09 17:37

There’s a million of them out there. They all do it; the biggest difference is between trims. Non-performance cars with their relatively normal tire thickness are less susceptible. Performance cars often barely make 20K. But the level of defeat is a manner of driving behavior. My prior Audi S3 really didn’t have dramatic camber but it absolutely ate tires… by design.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-09 18:23

Did you get warranty protection for your Audi or did the tire dealers just said nope???

murderousmungo 2026-03-09 19:41

im at 52k on my first set, driving around 100 miles 4 times a week. They look like they have another 25k in them, tbh. I'm personally quite pleased about it (and relieved too). Michelins.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-09 19:48

Wow! Fsd driven???

chandleya 2026-03-09 19:50

Tire warranties in distance have everything to do with how long they warranty the tire to be free of defects, not how long you can do a prolonged burnout.

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-09 19:51

Yes and for now Tesla y because of camber alignment is just being excluded from it. At least for me. I am now hearing different from others…

murderousmungo 2026-03-09 19:57

Not really, only the freebies they give me. So maybe 5k is fsd. I don't have the performance upgrade and I'm AWD, not rwd

krisantihypocrisy 2026-03-09 20:00

Gotcha, thanks!!!

Wasabulu 2026-03-09 20:51

Tesla's original continentals lasts about 20k. I got turanza ev tires and its on 40k now still good. I had to swap out with a michellin a/s in between due to nail pop but the curren turanza is holding up nicely. I will only buy tires that has mileage warranty

kandosii_naast 2026-03-09 21:28

I got 26k out of my OEM michelins. My mobile service guy told me that they were 1st gen BEV Tesla tires (did have the T1 marking) and that they are super soft tires that don't last long and he wished they'd stop using them. Have Continental now and seem to be holding up well after about 18k miles.

MC-CREC 2026-03-09 22:43

Tesla's definitely burn tires I had a 300/wh/mi average on my 3 and still only get 35k out of them. Heat and weight = bye bye tire regardless of you trying to drive fast, which does make it worse.. Pirelli EV P Zero are the tires with the best warranty and range so far I tried.

Positive_League_5534 2026-03-10 00:47

You realize a Model 3 is pretty close to the same weight as a Camry Hybrid? it weighs less than an Audi A5. Cars don't burn tires...drivers do.

MC-CREC 2026-03-10 01:31

Yeah but neither of those cars have instant torque and tires designed for rolling resistance and sound reduction. If you want the mileage the car kills those tires.

Xoblin2000 2026-03-10 02:33

#1 do not ever buy a tire warranty, it's a complete waste of money. Discount tire automatically prorates tires if they have any type of road damage or do not hold up to their estimated life. This is also why you never ever buy a tire warranty. #2 I burned through 2 sets of continental's, fortunately discount tire prorated the replacements, but it was mainly due to a bad alignment that Tesla didn't do properly the first time, had it aligned again 3 months later now everything is correct

Fluid-Horse-9554 2026-03-10 02:43

It’s all in how you drive, corner, accelerate, etc. I get 25-30k miles on my MYP tires. They cannot be rotated and the the MYP has really strong camber. I usually get more from the front tires. Model S LR with staggered tires has 25k miles and still have another 10k on them. Slow down in cornering as these cars weigh more, ease off the accelerator and make sure you rotate on schedule.

Zlasher8 2026-03-10 07:24

I got about 35k out of my first two sets. Just something to live with. Better than transmissions or timing belts or brake calipers or lord knows what else

SomeFuckingMillenial 2026-03-10 22:19

I am one set of tires in 50k miles. Sounds like a you problem.

peppermintpattymills 2026-03-11 14:59

I don’t know why this guy is arguing with you, the manual literally says to rotate every 5 or 6k miles. You should do this on every car. Discount Tire will rotate them for you for free. Also you need proof of rotations if you want to do a mileage warranty claim
