My Daughter throwing shade 😀

awraynor | 2026-03-07 23:20 | 79 views

I told my Daughter I after 2 years of ownership I was going to change the air filters in my 2024 MY. She laughingly said I thought Tesla didn't need any maintenance. Well at 1 year I filled up the windshield fluid and now the filters. Probably shouldn't tell her I had to put air in my tires. BTW. It's a running joke in our family. Whenever they need to service their gas cars, I say, you know which car you don't have to work on. She seized the opportunity as soon as I had to do a little work. We are doing fine raising our children.

Great job. I changed mine recently too. Have you changed your wiper blades?

Splattacular1 2026-03-07 23:53

I’ve changed mine twice so far (23 M3). I also use the Klima Cleaner Pro method.

Your daughter? So the 'dad' needs to post this on reddit for the purpose of.... Said in various ways... Any knucklehead can have a kid, takes a man to raise one.

awraynor 2026-03-08 01:48

I haven't yet, but definitely need to. Did you go with the OEM or aftermarket?

--SauceMcManus-- 2026-03-08 01:52

Are you ok?

awraynor 2026-03-08 01:53

Ugh. I bought everything several months ago to include the cleaner and forgot to use it when I had everything out. Oh well, seems I can add another project to my list.

tantricengineer 2026-03-08 01:59

What is this method?

Splattacular1 2026-03-08 02:08

Filling the spot where the air filters are located and the frunk air chamber with nextzett klima ac cleaner. Teslamize has a great how to video on YT.

On my 2023 Y, I went with Bosch A102S. They are an exact match and fit like factory. No messing with weird adapters like some brands. About $29 a pair from Amazon or local parts store. You have a 2024, so double check that's the right part # for yours.

awraynor 2026-03-08 03:40

thank. you. I'll definitely check them out.

awraynor 2026-03-08 03:52

Thank you. I don't understand why people feel the need to post such negative comments to a post that was placed in jest.

NightOfTheLivingHam 2026-03-08 09:23

Oem work better in my experience

ducbaobao 2026-03-08 10:02

Where did you get your filter? I also own a 2024 MY LR AWD, it’s time to change mine too

Equivalent-Eye-2359 2026-03-08 11:37

Loads easier without pedals to get in the way! And squash you into the space if you touch the brake slightly and the seat comes forward!

awraynor 2026-03-08 14:24

My daughter is a new driver. She drove my car the other day. When I got back in it almost put me into the steering wheel. Yeah I had to save the new adjustment.

awraynor 2026-03-08 14:29

I bought these. Decent printed directions and comes with a wrench to remove the screw for the filter door. But I forgot to use the coil cleaner so I'll have to go through the process again, but it's not bad, except for getting the console cover off the first time. awraynor 2026-03-08 14:30

I've watched videos on how to completely clean the coils in the frunk. I could see why people do the method where you mostly get everything.

ducbaobao 2026-03-08 15:03

Thanks for the links. Didn’t know I have to get coil cleaner. Let me do some research if it’s necessary.

awraynor 2026-03-08 16:27

I’ve never cleaned the coil in any car I’ve ever owned. But not likely to hurt.

rekun88 2026-03-08 18:11

It's funny because I thought about doing it myself, but was afraid of breaking clips etc. The mobile technician just pulled the panel off in one go, pulled the filters out, stuck new ones in. It took him like 10 seconds OMG.

awraynor 2026-03-08 18:55

That panel was definitely in there securely, but I'm sure the next time it will be much easier. Especially since I'll have to do it a second time since I forgot to use the coil cleaner.

DasArtmab 2026-03-09 00:20

Uggh, I need to do this again on my MY. I remember it was a bit of a PITA.

PahLume1 2026-03-09 00:53

I do the same with my family it's a funny joke just waiting to swap out the wiper blade. Going to be really involved.

jmwelch73 2026-03-09 04:35

Run a maintenance cost comparison. For those that may be delinquent in upkeep, remind them that general maintenance isn't optional, frivolous shop up-selling aside.

SongTop4894 2026-03-09 12:35

Oem are only $30. I went with them. They worked very nicely.

Enragedocelot 2026-03-09 13:31

Woah you’ve only filled your washer fluid once in a year? Might you live in a warmer climate with 0 bugs? I feel like I fill mine every month or so

awraynor 2026-03-09 15:44

SC, but guess I should check it. I’ve driven 13k miles in 2 years which is higher than my usual.

No-Low-2017 2026-03-09 18:36

Try wiping them down before you do, you wouldn’t believe how much comes off them with just water and they work much better
