I’ve never felt the need. When you’re looking at it head on you don’t really notice dust or fingerprints really.
I just clean it once a month or so.
This is also coming from someone who uses their phones and iPads naked though. 🤷

I have one my Y. No issue. Didn't read the manual so didn't know you weren't supposed to 😂. Like you said you can put screen protectors on phones with zero issues. No reason the Tesla screen would be any different

Have it on day 1 of my car. Just hate having scratches on the screen hence getting the protector

The Spigen one is idiotproof. I don't think I have ever had such a good experience putting on a screen protector. Sure the screen isn't quite as vivid, but it will protect from scratches.

Have had screen protectors installed on both 2020 and 2023 MYLR since taking delivery of each, zero issues. I can’t think of how the could cause damage

I don't use them. It's not like a phone that's going in your pocket all day. What can potentially scratch it? If you're hauling 2x4's in there sitting on the arm rest pointing straight at it then you have larger issues. Plus I've read about people experiencing ghost touches when it isn't really attached in some spots.

From what I’ve seen on here: Teslas wording in the manual is meant to be a CYA mostly. There is a legitimate issue if you use a cheap/improperly installed one (Phantom presses on the screen, the adhesive melting in high temps, etc) but if you get a quality brand one & make sure to install it correctly you’ll be fine :)

Have the car for 2 years without the protector. Also haul dogs and have hit it multiple times but no damage.

I have a screen protector on mine and it has a chip on it. Not sure it got it but I know the screen is fine.

I put one on mine 4.5 years ago. Not sure if it’s saved me any damages or not but there are a few chips in the edge of the protector towards the passenger seat. Kids are rough.
If I didn’t have the protector, would I have had any damage? I don’t know.

I have one that gives it a matte finish to help with glare.

I like mine because it’s reduced the glare.

also have spigen and can attest to its quality and idiotproof-ness. love mine. no touch problems anywhere, can still use a corner screen phone mount without issue. just dont over tighten everything or bang on the screen like a tantrum child

Have a screen protector on and the other day it had a big crack where something probably hit the screen when breaking…. It does what its supposed to do can imaging how much to replace the screen would be….

Ha! I’ve never removed the one that came on the screen when I took delivery two years ago.

Matte is great. And really I got mine to protect from cracks, already been saved by it on the rear display. Kids aren’t always careful.

I got the Spigen one as well. Mainly for anti-glare and it also seems to make finger prints less smudgy.

My old ICE used a cheap screen. The Tesla one is high quality scratch resistant.

I got one just for the matte-nano texture feel. Worth it

I just hate glossy screens so I put a matte screen protector on my MY and I love it. No touch issues at all.
