Picking up today! Any tips?

Picking up my first EV today and it is a Model Y Premium RWD. I have the 3W floor mats and the center console organizer. What are the things you guys suggest I check and do once I take possession of the vehicle?

> I check and do once I take possession of the vehicle Do a search and do the obvious. Check that you have insurance. If it's new. Get a good modern spray wax.

I'll say this: the people working there are probably swamped. If your appt is at 3pm don't expect to have your name called between then and 3:01pm. When they clear everything out and get to you they'll help 100% and answer all your questions. When I picked mine up I couldn't believe how entitled most people are.

I took that into account so I scheduled the first time slot when they opened. I got there 30 minutes early, not a problem and they helped me right away. The entire transaction with the delivery rep was less than 15 minutes from the time I parked my trade-in to the time they turned the car over to me, including the time it took to sign over my trade. The rest of the time was just me asking questions about the features and inspecting the car. If not for all of my own questions, I would have been in and out in 15 minutes. Easiest car buying experience ever.

Search and find a pre-pickup checklist and go through the car carefully. Tesla doesn't do a lot of QC on their cars...that's your job.

Read the manual and/or watch the videos.  A lot of posts on this sub are people asking questions about things they should have known before picking up their vehicles.

Same experience for me. I was an hour early and just checked in with the lady at the desk and she helped me immediately. Was out the door in 15 minutes.

Read and watch the videos before you get there. Expect to be in and out in about 15 minutes. Then enjoy the rest of your day! Definitely spend some time with FSD, while you have the 30 day free trial.

Walk around and check paint and body panels for dents, scapes and paint chips. Do the same with windshield. Also make sure the glass is clean. They sometimes leave oily residue from assembly process. Check that all windows and door release handles operate. Drive without any music or other distractions for the first hour or so and listen for any unusual sounds - clunking, scraping, tapping, creeks, anything that wouldn’t be expected with the car moving or driving over small bumps and road imperfections.

Had a bunch of mid alignments when I picked up last week. Please inspect.

What do you mean? Maybe throw out a couple of specifics that you found? Mine arrives in a few days

Do a thorough exterior inspection before your appointment time, before accepting delivery on the app. Your name should be on the dashboard. It's much easier to reject a car with panel gaps or other issues before accepting it. After you accept and unlock it, if there's issues, you may need to go back and forth for months afterwards for warranty repairs. The wait times can be extreme and repair quality uncertain. After accepting, do a YouTube checklist before driving off the lot. Do an additional inspection at night / daylight before 24h/100 miles. Anything you're unsure of or definite issues, report in the app so it's on record before 24h/100 miles. Don't forget to test all buttons, USB ports, AC, Heat, etc. YouTube has some good checklists.
