Is someone hit you and you didn't back into a pole, insurance is going to probably total it. It it was a pole, probably going to have to replace the quarter, tail light, bumper, and possibly the trunk. Going to have to check the damage underneath to make sure it's not structural
Mine looked like that and they fixed it. But insurance gonna do what insurance gonna do.
Ya they usually replace any panel with significant damage.
I had a similar issue; they just replaced the panel, also with the rear liftgate (trunk).
😂😂
If the frame is bent or the battery is damaged, it'll likely be a write-off. As far as repairs, if you go to a Service Center, all damaged parts will be removed. New parts will be installed.
Nevermind just noticed it’s the new model Y. I guess they can just replace that wuarter panel
That panel is literally the entire side of the car
Yikes. Sorry to see this for your new MYP…. :/
Your cooked. Pick up a bolt EV there cheaper
Yes rear quarter panel is welded and will be cut out and rewelded
Make sure you get paid diminished value
Totaled
Totaled
It's not just a quarter panel it's the frame under the corner panel as well watch a video on it you literally have to cut out every single rivet cut into the frame itself buy a new replacement frame match it up properly, then cut it to match glue and rivet it again, weld it.... Then the painted panel goes on top of that same process essentially cut, glue, rivet, weld, sand, filler, sand, polish, prime, paint. Absolute massive job 15K probably would be lucky easily could go higher.
RIP!
It doesn’t drive itself.
note that this is also where some expensive charging wiring and electronics are. The same body damage on the right hand side of the car is much less expensive to repair. Good luck although I kind of feel if you have to ask the question “Is it totaled?” there is likely enough damage you really want it to be totaled because it is going to take a long time to repair, diminished value and some repaired things might always be a little “off”.
Pretty extreme. Sucks to happen on a brand new performance. Even if a body shop can fix this, it'll never be the same. That whole piece runs to the front of the A Pillar. Behind the charge port sits a orange pipe that goes to the HV battery. That's what I'm afraid will be damaged in this situation.
New lift gate, upper and lower bumper, back and side quarters, entire taillight assembly. There will be some frame repair welding needed. It’s 12-15K easily. Probably going to repair it though. Done well you’ll never know this happened
Yep, this. Plenty of yewToobs doing that kind of fix with a new 'skin' and bumper parts. If you want to get more of an idea what is underneath, the [EPC](https://epc.tesla.com/en-US/catalogs/207e39de-1289-4baa-83e5-c77ba9d53194/categories/0a4736ec-59dc-4f41-a559-5400fa0eb61e/subcategories/0c9c5194-a1bb-4c2e-9767-039830ca6ddf/systemGroups/9ba7c435-2381-442f-a566-a09bd3603c84) has diagrams. The structural damage is probably light — there are energy-absorbing parts under there that are designed to be replaceable. The main structural part is the aluminum casting.
Posting this question is gonna get you dozens of answers from internet bodyshop mechanics, giving their expert opinions after viewing only two photos. The only opinion that matters is the insurance company!
My 2026 MY is at a Tesla certified Service Center just now for a hit in the back door just in front of the wheel well. Door, rear quarter panel, rear bumper and a frame part all need to be replaced and painted. Front door needs to be removed and installed and B pillar need to be repainted. So yeah, a lot more involved that it may seem just looking at the outside.
I’m sorry for your loss 🫢
Hey OP! I had a VERY similar thing happen to me, 25k in damages and re-paint later I have my car back good as new! You can hit me up if you have questions!
How long did it take to get repaired?
I am going to preface this with, I have a Launch edition, I got it just under a month after they first rolled out the new Model Y.. the shop had mine for 89 days because getting parts was a nightmare. It will not be like that for you. But insurance had me covered, make sure (as long as you are NOT at fault) you file a diminished value claim very quickly after you get your car back. And also record your mileage as close to the accident as possible to help with that claim. I got back a scratch under 5k from mine.
No you can’t DIY this if thats what you are asking..
