21 MYLR cold battery icon when it's not that cold outside

Forresss | 2026-03-06 21:20 | 8 views

Owner of a 2021 MYLR with 41k miles. It's in the low 40's today outside here in the northeast, not exactly warm but not freezing either. Car was outside for 8 hrs while at work, drove for 15 mins before the cold battery icon disappeared. I get about 285 miles at 100% SOC. Is this normal? It's not the first time I've seen this. Planning to do a battery health test this weekend. I'm looking forward to see the results like I'm looking forward to look at my 401k balance right now.

Battery temperature was too low. Car needed driving to warm the battery up. Very normal. Recommend pre conditioning the car 15- 30minutes before you get in it

All very normal. The battery test is just a waste of time and energy and won’t tell you anything useful.

5°C is plenty cold for a Liion battery

My co-workers drives a 21 M3 and a 25 M3, both didn't get the cold battery icon yesterday. They both said they get it when temps are below freezing. 🤷‍♂️
