Windshield a little too dark for my taste, and side windows a little too light. It's good if you like it though
Yep I am feeling that way too now after leaving the tint job. Perhaps should have opted for 70% windshield. 😆
I did 55, which is pretty dark but in the daytime it's fantastic. At night the adaptive headlights are bright enough to see clearly, but until I got in an untinted Tesla I didn't realize just how insanely bright they were
I have 40% on the windshield and I can’t even tell a difference driving. My work commute starts at 4am..
That’s just a lie. I have a vehicle with 50 and 35. I’ve also owned a vehicle with 70, and 50 is the absolute perfect sweet spot. But 35-40, there is definite visibility reduction.
Did you use the same percentage tint on all the passenger windows, or did you use different levels to get them to match? I’m asking because the rear windows usually come with a factory 'privacy' tint, and I’m curious if you had to use a lighter film in the back to hit an even 50% all around.
Looks great! California has strange tint laws where they don't allow anything on the windshield and only very light tint on the front doors. I said screw it and got the front windows to match the factory shading on the back anyway. I don't like tinting my windshield but I did get the lightest shade they had but with the highest UV rejection possible. In a couple of weeks I'm going to back to have them put a the same thing they put on the windshield on all the back windows to add more UV protection since the factory shading is just privacy, not UV.
Doesn’t affect me whatsoever as somebody who drives before the sun comes up.
Yes you mentioned that part.
Just responding to your stupid comment saying someone else is lying about how they perceive something lol.
Windshield tinting is a real smooth brain move.
I can see arguments both ways. If you’re in a really sunny climate and you get, say, 70% VLT, it can really cut down on heat coming in. I’ve never gotten it due to cost because when I’ve gotten quotes in the past, it’s like the same as or more than the two front windows. If you’re getting a dark tint on the windshield then that’s just dangerous at night
the factory rear tint is around 20% so you definitely have to mix and match to try to get similar-looking results front and back
I didn’t touch the back windows at all
If you’re telling me you actually see no difference between 35 percent tint and no tint at night, you’re just blind in all honesty. Doesn’t matter how you “perceive” it, it is what it is.
70% on the windshield, 5% on sides
That's a smooth brain take. I live in the desert where the summer can get nearly 120°f, a little bit of tint with UV protection makes a world of difference on the biggest piece of glass the car has.
Now smoke the lightbar :)
In California, if you get a fix-it ticket for tints, you can forfeit bail for $200 and its like it never happened. I've only gotten one tint ticket in 10 years of driving and that was for another traffic violation but cop decided to be nice that day and only give me the fix-it
No more than 15% on the sides is what I like. Still debating doing the windshield at some point.
This is what I wish I had done. I did 70% windshield, 5% brow, 35% back and rear glass and whatever is lowest but still legal in the front. I really wish I’d gone darker in the front.
My boy has never heard of ASHRAE or heating coefficients. Sunlight is composed of 3 components: IR, Visible, and UV. When you add ceramic to it (70%) to your windshield, you can reject 80-96% IR, 44% Total Heat, and almost 100% of UV. For windshields the type of film matters more than how much it’s tinted. So dark doesn’t necessarily mean lighter. In practical terms; a high quality ceramic tint (reflects, not darkening) can get you 13 degrees cooler.
70% on the windshield is perfect. Zero tint detection to the eye but all the benefits of UV protection. In the summer months it makes an incredible temp difference.
Imagine worrying about UV related skin cancers?
50% windshield is crazy.
If you got in a car with 70% on the windshield at night, you wouldn’t even notice the tint unless someone told you it was there. During the day it’s eliminates eye strain and keeps your cabin a lot cooler. Probably should refrain from calling other people smooth brains without first hand experience on the subject.
Any issues with the windshield visibility? The shop I’m at now said it creates a visibility issue because of the slant on the juniper. I’ve never heard of that ever. Not once
I don’t see any visibility issues at all.
