FSD Transfer with Used Car Sale

I’m looking into purchasing a 2026 Model Y Launch Edition. If the software screen says “Full Self Driving Capability - Included Package”, is that pretty much a guarantee that the FSD will transfer to me with purchase of the vehicle? Basically I want to make sure it’s tied to the VIN and that the existing owner won’t be able to transfer it away to their new Tesla or something? The dealer doesn’t sell Teslas often and aren’t sure and can’t confirm or guarantee. How can I confirm with them before purchasing or if it’s conditional on anything how have other people done this sale to ensure it’s transferred? Appreciate any input.

You can only transfer FSD to a new car purchased from Tesla. If someone is selling a private car to you, and it says included package, it's yours.

Right so what if the dealer/owner transfers it to their new Tesla? The dealer said that as of now the Tesla is still on the owners account because it’s someone they know well. Anyways from what I’m reading about Launch editions is that the FSD can’t be transferred off of them? I just really want to confirm before proceeding. To clarify I’m buying from a dealership.

Correct. Launch Edition Model Y can’t have FSD transferred out to a new car. It’s part of the core package.
