Just pay for premium connectivity and utilise Apple Music or Spotify?
If you repartition a USB drive so that it has separate partitions for teslacam and music, it can be used for both at the same time. Create a folder called "TESLACAM" on one partition, create a folder called "Music" on the other partition. Both have to be exFat. I think this is largely undocumented.
The USB storage system on the Tesla doesn’t really work that way. Fundamentally it only supports a single USB storage device. Kinda sucks, yes.
Already have that, but I still prefer the quality of my own music files playing direct when I can.
I saw the YouTubers using splitters and hubs, didn’t work for me, then read Tesla doesn’t recommend. Dunno. I’ll just use a larger single partitioned drive.
On my 2024 Y, a four port hub in the glovebox works fine - I’ve got two usb drives in there. Same setup worked fine in my 2018 3 also.
This is not true, I was able to split my without any issues
Which Tesla do you have?
This is exactly what I do in my 26 MY LR.
This from the OWNERS MANUAL NOTE Do not connect multiple devices using a USB hub. This can prevent connected devices from charging or from being recognized by Media Player, Sentry Mode, Dashcam, etc.
Works like this on my Y Juniper delivered May 2025
I use USB hub in mine with no issues, I have a 24 MYP. I have the UBS drive for sentry videos / lock sounds, and connected a ambient light bar on my front dash which is wired through the dash and plugs into the USB hub for power. Has been working fine for months,
I’ve successfully put a 4 port hub in a 2018 3, a 2023 3, and a 2024 Y. No Highland/juniper though. In the 2018 3, I used two usb drives (Sentry and music), and two wired controllers. In the others, just two USB drives.
I tried and still have the usb split partition, but I have just started using Plexamp from my phone instead. So very nice.
Hie do I stream my flash drive OTA?
Neither _needs_ to be exfat. They can be fat32 or ext4 too. And the music drive doesn't need a folder called "Music", the music files can be anywhere on the drive.
Noticeable drop in quality using direct streaming
Hmm even with lossless Spotify streaming?
Lol connect hub first then plug in usb stick then it'll work dunno why but thats how mine works.
With all the streaming services, why?
There is no lossless streaming with premium connectivity
That's pretty wild it supports ext4. I will definitely be trying that. I could never get it to play music if it was on the same partition as the camera recordings.
Because streaming services suck. Maybe you don't realize it because that's all you've known.
[This is what I bought](https://a.co/d/0fePG0QE)
>I could never get it to play music if it was on the same partition as the camera recordings. Using ext4 won't solve that. I tried. It must be on separate partitions.
I didn't say that music can be on the same partition as the camera recordings, only that it doesn't have to be in a folder called "Music"
Ah, I misunderstood. I'll have to play with it a bit more.
sorry, I'm not someone who thinks they hear music better than everyone else and needs something special to make them feel better about their life.
